To level up and unlock abilities, you will need to gather XP, and to level up jobs you will need JP or job points. You gather both by fighting battles and completing quests.

Each time you win a fight, you gain a small amount of XP and JP, and the more JP you earn, the fast your will level up your jobs. Then when you level up a job in Bravely Default 2, you will unlock a new ability; you will also have to level up to a max rank to get all of the abilities you can from a job.

That said, if you want to level up your jobs fast, we recommend farming on the overworld map and draw in more than one enemy on the map.

Doing this will make more enemies show up in battle, but you will get bonus JP and XP if you manage to win. You can also try your luck in dungeons as you will find a large concentration of foes in them.

Along with fighting more than one enemy on the overworld map, you can also find what are called experience orbs.

Experience orbs are basically consumable items that will give a considerable amount of XP to your character. You can also find them in chests, expeditions, and the occasional side quest; overall, though, your best bet to get these orbs would be through expeditions.
