How to explore in Bravely Default 2

To explore in Bravely Default 2 and use the boat feature, you will need to progress to the point where you have saved a certain old woman NPC and the side character Gloria.

At this point, the player can complete a side quest in the location shown below when they talk to the old woman behind the counter. After a cutscene plays, the explore feature in Bravely Default 2 will become unlocked, and the player will be able to use a boat to gain all sorts of valuable resources and items.

That said, to use the boat to explore, all you need to do is speak to the older woman again and choose the option start an expedition; once clicked, a new expedition will start, and the longer it plays out the higher the chance and amount of items you will get when it ends.

Expeditions can also last for a while, and the ideal amount of time you should let them go is around 12 hours; Thus, we recommend starting one when you are about to leave or go to bed.
