All gear rarities in Hogwarts Legacy and what they mean

Dressed in the best.

Other than talents, Gear is one of the best available ways to power up your defense and offense in Hogwarts Legacy. Other than being classified into six types of gear, Handwear, Facewear, Headwear, Neckwear, Cloaks and Robes, and Outfits, your gear will also be sorted into four different rarities. Here are all the gear rarities and what they mean in Hogwarts Legacy.

Well-Appointed Gear in Hogwarts Legacy

This is your lowest tier of gear, which its green background can easily identify. Pieces of Well-Appointed Gear can not be improved at your Loom, nor can they have traits attached to them. These pieces of gear fetch the lowest price when they are re-sold.

Superb Gear in Hogwarts Legacy

Superb Gear is easily spotted by its blue background. These pieces of gear can be improved three times and are the cheapest to improve. This does come with a caveat, though, as each improvement you apply to Superb gear will not be as much of an improvement as those you apply to higher-tiered gear. You can also apply traits to Superb Gear, but only level one traits.

Extraordinary Gear in Hogwarts Legacy

Gear with a purple background fall in the Extraordinary Gear Category. If you take them to your loom, these pieces of gear can also be improved up to three times, though they will cost you more materials to upgrade than Superb Gear. This will also add even more offense and defense values per upgrade. Extraordinary Gear can also have level one or level two traits attached to them.

Legendary Gear in Hogwarts Legacy

Legendary Gear is your highest tier of gear. They all feature an orange background. Pieces of Legendary Gear cost the most magical creature supplies to upgrade, but they also improve the most with each upgrade. Improvements can still only be made three times. Legendary gear also has access to all three levels of traits. They will also sell at vendors and shops at the highest value.
