How to climb the Cinnabar Sands Tallneck in Horizon Forbidden West

Scale this massive machine to uncover the Forbidden West map.

Horizon Forbidden West offers a massive open world for players to discover while playing as Aloy. The easiest way for Aloy to get the lay of the land in Horizon is by scaling and overriding massive Tallnecks that wander the wilds of this far-future epic. Finding a way to overcome these giants isn't always straightforward and requires a bit of direction.

Tallneck Location

The Cinnabar Sands Tallneck resides north of Stone's Echo and Southeast of Plainsong. You'll see it in the arid expanse we've listed below:

Climb up the Dish

Once you've found the Tallneck, you'll want to scale the first few ladders of the satellite dish nearby. There are several hostile machines in the area, so you can either sneak by them using the tall grass or fight them before heading upwards.

Restore Power to the Console

After climbing the first ladder of the dish, you'll notice that the console has no power, and you'll need to restore energy to continue. Scale the next ladder and head straight to the yellow ladder on the far side of the dish, kick it down, and drop to the ledge.

You'll have to make your way to the right, detach an Energy Cell, and place it in a generator below the dish. Drop down via the broken railing for a quick way down to the satellite's base.

After you've restored power to the console, climb back up to the dish. Interact with the green touchpad on the first floor of the tower. There will be an error that stops the plate from turning all the way around that Aloy will have to fix.

Find a Way up the Dish

Head to the console's left and scale the yellow handholds on the tower until you reach the ladder at the end of the path. Once at the top of the ladder, you'll see a Data Point immediately to Aloy's left, scan it with the Focus to add it to her database.

Untangle the Dish

After scanning the Data Point, use the Focus to pinpoint the problem areas on the dish. You'll need to shoot the tangled wires to free the plate and create a path forward for Aloy. Use two well-placed arrows to detach these wires and create a way forward.

Once you've hit scaled the Tallneck, head to the center of the creature and hold the button prompt to override the Talleneck, revealing a massive portion of the map for Aloy to explore and examine.
