How to defeat Plowhorns in Horizon Forbidden West?

Plowhorns have a unique attack that focuses on Adhesive damage. To effectively combat these machines, players should take out their Adhesive capabilities by targeting specific body parts. Its Horns and Adhesive Sac will both decrease the capabilities of the machine's Adhesive attacks and would be great targets to take out early on in a fight.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Players can attack machines with different kinds of elemental attacks. Elemental attacks in the game include Fire, Shock, Frost, Plasma, Purgewater, and Acid. The Plowhorn will be weak to damage from Acid attacks. They will be resistant to damage from Purgewater and Frost attacks.

Body Parts

There are a few different body parts on a Plowhorn and each one will drop different loot and deal different amounts of damage to the machine when attacked by players. The body parts on a Plowhorn are:

• Tail Clamp
• Tail Capsule

Loot

Machines in Horizon Forbidden West will drop different loot items, and many are specific to each kind of machine. Some can be looted from a fallen machine, while others will need to be removed (shot off with an arrow or with a hit from the spear) while the machine is still alive. The Plowhorn will drop a long list of loot items:

• Stickpaste (Uncommon) - Dropped from Body and Adhesive Sac
• Sturdy Hardplate (Common) - Dropped from Body, Seed Dispenser, and Tail Capsule

• Plowhorn Primary Nerve* (Uncommon) - Dropped from Body and Seed Dispenser
• Metal Bone (Rare) - Dropped from Body
• Plowhorn Horn (Legendary) - Dropped from Horns
• Medicinal Berry (Common) - Dropped from Seed Dispenser
• Vigorstem (Rare) - Dropped from Seed Dispenser
• Volatile Sludge (Very Rare) - Dropped from Seed Dispenser
• Fiberzest (Very Rare) - Dropped from Seed Dispenser
• Purgewater (Uncommon) Dropped from Purgewater Sac
• Blastpaste (Rare) - Dropped from Fertilizer Sac and Tail Capsule

Cauldron

In Horizon Forbidden West, Cauldrons allow players to override the machines that are within that Cauldron once they have completed it. Completing a Cauldron usually means traversing through its dungeon-like corridors and facing off against a boss at the end. The Plowhorn is a part of the TAU Overrides Cauldron.
