During the side quest, The Wound in the Sand, Aloy is asked to pick a side for the Desert Tenakth clan. The quest takes Aloy through the struggles of the tribe and she gets a chance to experience two people within the tribe that are both wanting to take care of the clan in different ways. This issue revolves around the one water source available within the whole clan, called the Wound, which has run dry due to the negligence of another clan member. Drakka and Yarra both have their ups and downs, but it is up to Aloy to decide who should become the new commander.

Choosing Drakka
Drakka is an eager young man within the clan who clearly works hard to provide his portion of the faction with as much water and resources as he can. Going above and beyond to hunt down as many Machine Hearts as he can in order to trade them for those resources. His people are dying of thirst and the fight out in the desert and he has completely lost all faith in the current commander Yarra.
With this in mind, there is a good argument to choose Drakka as the next commander. He clearly cares for his people and will do just about anything for them. That said, one of his men did accidentally cause issues with the main water source, and that ultimately cost them.
If players choose to support Drakka in the fight and win for him, he will let everyone within the clan know about the lack of water and resources and choose a leader from each section to come speak about a way to resolve the issue together. However, he will shoot Yarra dead at her request. In either end, the victor will gift Aloy the Firestorm Warrior Bow, a very rare warrior bow that shoots both shock and fire elemental arrows.

Choosing Yarra
Yarra is the current commander in charge of the Desert Tenakth, but she is clearly having issues. Between the derangement of machines, other clan members vying for control, and her water issue, she has become paranoid. Yarra immediately assumes that Aloy is on Drakka's side and will continually treat her as though she is luring her out to be attacked. Aloy will reassure her over and over until Yarra finally sees proof of her innocence.
When they look into the water supply issue together, Yarra will keep making claims that because one of Drakka's men was found dead nearby, Drakka intentionally stopped the water supply to overthrow her. On top of this, she refuses to let anyone in the tribe, aside from a few trusted Marshals, know about the lack of water. Essentially, telling her people to ration and doing very little to handle the issue.
Due to this, she really isn't a great candidate. If Aloy sides with her, she will continue to make the same choices as before, rationing heavily until the wound refills. She will kill Drakka at the end of the match and claim that she will give a heavier supply of water to Arrowhand, Drakka's home. Afterward, she will offer Aloy the same Firestorm Warrior Bow as Drakka would if he had been chosen.
