When is Kingdom Hearts releasing on Nintendo Switch?

The saga of Super Smash Bros.'s final fighter DLC is finally here.

Kingdom Hearts is one of Square Enix Japan’s biggest franchises—together with Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. It has sold billions of copies in its lifetime and spans over ten games. However, Nintendo consoles haven’t had the privilege of hosting a major Kingdom Hearts title—at least until it was announced in late 2021 that cloud ports of all three mainline collections will be available on the Nintendo Switch.

Kingdom Hearts III + Re:Mind as well as the two HD Collections (I.5 + II.5 HD Remakes and II.8 HD) will launch on Nintendo Switch via the cloud on Feb. 10, 2022. It will be released as part of Kingdom Hearts’ 20th anniversary initiative.

A short demo is available for all three games today. You can download them from the Nintendo eShop.

It’s unclear if Square Enix is planning to port these games natively, however. This is especially true for Kingdom Hearts III, which had an install size of 75 GB. Witcher 3 could do it with a graphic downscale, so fans are still hopeful. But for now, the only way you’re going to be able to play Kingdom Hearts on your Nintendo Switch is by running the games on a stable internet connection.
