15 Best Cozy Games to play on Steam Deck

Sometimes the best games are the chill ones.

It's really tempting every now and then to just turn the old brain off and play something nice and relaxing. It can be hard to find cozy games, though, seeing as the top sellers on Steam are usually shooters or games with intense action. That being said there are some gems in the Steam Deck library for cozy game enjoyers, they just need to know where to look.

Which are the best cozy games on Steam Deck?

Stardew Valley

It's arguable that the craze over farming simulators started with this title. Stardew Valley created the formula for the genre, with its variety of tools to pick from as well as crops to create. Due to the simplistic art style, the game also has a very calming tone overall.

Sea of Stars

Going back to pixels has worked for several games, Sea of Stars included. What really seperates this RPG, though, is how it manages to create this vibrant, magical world with only pixelated assets. While it's a more relaxing game, players can still pour hours into it with all of the secrets and items players can collect.

Octopath Traveler 2

This game simply proves that very few developers are as good at crafting deep RPG's than Square Enix. While this game is challenging at parts (especially for players who want to try the secret boss), the story is also a big selling point. Players get eight individual stories to follow, and each of them are compelling. On top of all that, the soundtrack is also very relaxing.

Dave the Diver

The gameplay loop for this game is simple: players find fish, and then players cook fish. This game is definitely on the low end of the difficulty scale, but players will still need to know the best fish to cook and what will yield the most money.

Tunic

Picture The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past with some more updated graphics and Link is a Fox. That's a base interpretation of what Tunic is, but the main reason why it's on this list is because of the calming graphics. In Tunic, players also get small puzzles to complete as they go through the game, making the whole thing a very relaxing experience.

Slay the Spire

Of all the relaxing titles available on Steam Deck, Slay the Spire might have the most unique premise. Players climb through a rougelike ladder of levels, fighting card battles at each level. Whereas other roguelike titles can have some fairly intense action, this one just calls for some deck building skills.

My Time at Sandrock

When it comes to farming simulators, My Time at Sandrock takes a more expansive approach. The game has many different areas from where players are going to need to collect resources from. Players will need to drop into caves and travel a good distance away from their farm to get the most from this game.

Terraria

While there are many new cozy games coming out, there's nothing wrong with playing an oldie but goodie. Terraria has been around for more than a decade, and yet it still draws in new players. This is all due to its simplistic gameplay, which has players finding and using different tools to complete objectives and defeat the occasional baddie.

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch

Anyone Studio Ghibli fans? If so, you should love this game. Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch has an art style that makes it look like it's set in the Howl's Moving Castle universe. It also features classing RPG elements to go along with its calming art style.

Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book

This title features some heavy anime influence in its art style. Fans of cute characters will like this title, but so would RPGs lovers in general. The Atelier series is made by Koei Tecmo, the geniuses behind games like Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

Roots of Pacha

This gaming takes a bit of farming simulator influence and a bit of life simulator influence and mashes them both together in a small, cute game. Similar to Stardew Valley, the assets in this all have a simple art style.

Fae Farm

Fae Farm is a farming simulator that draws more from fantasy than any other simulator out there. Similar to Harvestella, there are mythical beasts that players can raise. Along with the fantasy influence comes a very relaxing, whimsical style that is easy on the eyes.

Tactics Ogre: Reborn

Something with "ogre" in the title doesn't necessarily imply a relaxing experience, but Tactics Ogre: Reborn still manages to be a calming experience. It's more in step with classic RPGs, but with a tactical twist. Very similar to Final Fantasy Tactics.

Outward

Similar to Fae Farm, this is a very fantasy-esque RPG. Where Outward succeeds is through mixing in survival game aspects into its gameplay, adding a new dimension to the gameplay. This game also employs a very simplistic art style that makes it look like players are "playing" a fairy tale.

Cassette Beasts

If you can picture Pokémon, but with using a Cassette player instead of a Poke Ball, you might have some idea of what Cassette Beasts is like. This is a very relaxing experience, though the monsters in this game tend to be bigger than the average Pokémon.
