Once again, the time of chips, dips, and gifts is upon us! Many of us tend to get new games to play at Christmas, but they aren't always topical for the season. So, we are here to tell you about games you can play that will make you want to put on your Santa hat immediately!
All of these titles will have you wanting to bundling up in a blanket with your hot chocolate and maybe some Rudolph antlers as you play them.
Astro Bot
If Astro Bot winning the Game of the Year award is not enough to convince you to play the game, then its Christmas-themed level just might. Called 'Winter Wonder' it features all the mechanics we've come to know and love tinted in beautiful red and green.
On top of it, the level is being offered as a free addition instead of being a paid DLC making it a potential for becoming a holiday classic. Note that you'd have to complete the main campaign to play at this holiday-themed level.
Stardew Valley
Holidays are all about returning home to the calm and cozy, and Stardew Valley captures it perfectly. This cute farming simulator has you tending to your own farm all while attending various events throughout the year.
One such fest is the Feast of the Winter Star, which takes place on the 25th of every year. The game also supports multiplayer, allowing you to play with your loved ones. However, it is not cross-platform which means everyone has to play the game from the same system.
Batman: Arkham Origins
Taking place in Midwinter Gotham City during Christmas, Arkham Origins is the perfect game to get your Batman fix this December. Featuring tons of holiday fixings with snow and Christmas decorations, the game packs amazing combat and visuals.
With this one, you can play as one of DC's most famous anti-heroes, and you will face off against Joker again. So, get ready for a showdown as the Bats whilst seeing what the holidays in Gotham look like.
Disney Dreamlight Valley
Reviews for Disney Dreamlight Valley have been great since day one as the developers are known to deliver what the players want. Building up on that is the holiday-themed event called The Gift of Giving.
From building a snowman and unwrapping gifts to buying festive lights to decorate your home, there's so much you can do in this event. The season pass also features themed items and motifs that you can unlock as you progress.
Marvel Rivals
Thanks to its great combat and highly detailed skins, Marvel Rivals is the talk of the town at the moment and to maintain the hype, developers have launched the Winter Celebration Event.
With new holiday-themed skins and outfits, you can show off your skills in style. A new limited-time Jeff-focused mode, called Jeff’s Winter Splash Festival, is also available to play in which you have to cover the place in frost to win.
GTA Online: Festive Surprise
Every year since 2014, Rockstar Games has hosted the Festive Surprise within GTA Online's world of Los Santos. What is usually a sunny and warm climate turns into a snow-filled and festive place with the studio's update once a year.
It usually runs for about two weeks and ends at the beginning of January. During this time, you can have snowball fights and slide around in your car while continuing to wreak havoc and cause chaos during the holidays!
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales
Just because you're Spider-Man doesn't mean you don't get cold! Zip around New York City in your puffer jacket and beat up the bad guys whilst taking in the sights and lights!
Like the previous entry on this list, there are noticeable Christmas decorations dotted around NYC and some lovely street lights. Add some snow on top of that (which it does), and you've got a merry little web-slinging Christmas!
Dead Rising 4
Released in 2016, Dead Rising 4 is still regarded as one of the best titles in the franchise. It sees the return of Frank West, a journalist, and a photographer from the first game. But this time around Willamette is decorated with lights, ornaments, and other wonderful festivities that you can experience as you traverse the newly built mall and explore the surrounding city!
From listening to Christmas tunes on car radios while driving, to killing zombies with holiday-related weapons, there's a lot to do in this installment, making it the perfect choice for seasonal celebrations and zombie slaying.
Bayonetta 2
From shopping for gifts to characters dressed up as Santa, Ba yonetta 2 is filled with Christmas references, making it a great game for this holiday season, especially if you like action.
The tile has a great replay value so even if you have already played the game, this is the right time to experience it again. This time around you can dress up Bayonetta as an elf with Link's costume, adding more to the already going on holiday theme.
Dress to Impress
Dress to Impress took the world by storm after it went viral in mid-2024. The game continues to be one of the most popular experiences on Roblox and features themed events from time to time.
For the holiday season, DTI has released a winter update that features Christmas-themed outfits and accessories allowing you to tap into your holiday and competitive spirit. In case you need help figuring out the update, have a look at our DTI Christmas Update guide.
