Lost Lands 5 Walkthrough - Ice Spell full guide & puzzle solutions

I won’t be describing how to get from A to B in this guide, as I’ll instead use the location names on the fast travel map that’s accessible in the bottom-right of the screen. This guide covers the first part of the adventure up until you join up with Maaron in Mounthor’s Plateau. If you need later parts, you’ll find links to my other walkthroughs below the table of contents.

The journey begins

When you arrive at the ancient portal take your first Collectible (a1) and Morphing Object (a2), and take the Sharp Stone (a3). Use the stone to open the bag (a4) to find a note, Key, and Shovel. Use the shovel to dig out the ladder to begin your first puzzle. You need to move the snow into the pit to complete it. See the solution below.

  • 4,5,2
  • 6,7,8,9,10,1,2

  • 15,16,6,12,9,10,1,2
  • 17,14,12,9,10,1,2

Now you can click the ladder to stand it up. Also, click the portal (a5) to see that you need a special stone to activate it, then click the top of the ladder to move on to the forest path

Take the Morphing Object (b1), the Collectible (b2), and the Rag (b3), then keep clicking the snow under the rag to find some Snow Shoes. Select the shoes and then click the tree (b4) so that you can walk in the deep snow, revealing some firewood (you can’t take it yet). Try to continue down the path (b5) for a cutscene, note the key trapped under the ice, and move forward once more.

Passing the wolves

To move past the wolves you have to click when the wolves aren’t looking. For the first one, wait until it is looking right over its shoulder (see above). For the next two, it’s the same for the wolf on the left but you need to wait until the one on the right is looking right at the same time.

For the next two, wait until they’re both looking behind them together. Then, for the final set of three, again wait until they’re all looking over their shoulders in different directions. You’ll arrive at the forest edge

Find the Collectible (c1) and Morphing Object (c2), and then take the Club (c3). Combine the club and rag in your inventory to get a Half-finished Torch. Select the two portals (c4 and c5) to see that you also need runes to operate them, and then use the key to open Maaron’s hut and go inside.

The Morphing Object is on the shelves (d1) and the Collectible is under the window (d2). Take the Axe (d3) and the Wooden Pole (d4), then click the drawers (d5) to find your first Manuscript. Keep opening the drawers until you find the Sack of Coins (open it in your inventory to get 12 Kyolls), while also discovering that the top drawer won’t open. Note the symbols carved on the top by the bronze statue.

Select the desk (d6) for a close-up and click the paper to get a new task. Take the Mitten and look at the spell book. Finally, select the back of the room (d7) for a simple missing objects puzzle. Once complete, you’ll have the Magic Wand. Put it on the desk (d6) for now.

Head outside and use the wooden pole to get the Cauldron of Snow (c6). Now return to the forest path and use the axe to collect some Splinters (b4). Back in Maaron’s hut you can add the cauldron to the fireplace (d8), add the splinters, and then use the bellows in the close-up to start the fire burning. Use the mitten to take a Cauldron of Hot Water.

Go back to the forest path and use the cauldron on the ice (b5), which allows you to take the Key. Use the key to open the gate at the forest’s edge (c7) and move through it to the halfling village.

You’ll find the Morphing Object (e1) by the rocks and the Collectible (e2) on the fence. Select the message board (e3) and get a Manuscript and an Awl, along with a note. Select the portal (e4) for a close-up to find a Rune Stone Shard, then knock on the door to the pumpkin shop (e5) and head inside. After a chat, you’ll receive Maaron’s Cryptex but you can’t afford to buy anything in the shop yet.

Return to Maaron’s hut and add the cryptex to the top of the drawers (d5). Copy the symbols on the desk on the cryptex and it will open, revealing a Statue Drawing and a Mechanism Piece. Now you can arrange the statue’s arms (also at d5) to match the drawing, opening the drawer so you can take the Rune Stone Shard

Put the shards on the desk (d6), find the Mend spell in the spell book, and use the wand to draw it in a continuous line. Take the Rune Stone, head outside, and use it to power up the portal (c5) and head through to the stronghold ruins

Take the Collectibe (f1) and the Morphing Object (f2), then click the pedestal to remove the snow and take an Energy Orb (f3). Place the orb in the statue (f4) to open a compartment and take the Flask Of Essence. Select it in your inventory and remove the attached note, to discover what you have is Basilisk Venom.

Now use the awl to untie the knot (f5) in the canvas and reveal a hole underneath, clicking the red cloth in the close-up to give you access to the catacombs of the dwarf dungeons below.

Take some Glowing Mushrooms (g1) and open the pocket in the same close-up, taking the 10 Kyolls inside. Select the barrel (g2) for a close-up and click it until it breaks, revealing some frozen tar.

Go back to the pumpkin shop (e5), buy the Pickaxe, then return to the cave and mine yourself a bucket full of Tar (g2). Return to Maaron’s hut, melt the tar in the fire (d8), and use the half-finished torch in it to make a Torch. Now you can go back to the dungeons and use the torch to light the lamp rope (g2) and reveal the rest of the catacombs.

The Collectible (h1) is on the back wall, while the Morphing Object (h2) is in the foreground. Take the Cart Wheel (h3), then try to break through the door with the trolley (h4). After you fail, take the Cutting Pliers from the winch close-up (h4). Now click the canvas (h5) to reveal and then complete the simple missing objects mini-game (the code is 857). Take Nomianna’s Box.

Add the cartwheel to the trolley mechanism (h4) and use it to wind the trolley back to you. Click the rocks in the close-up to add them to the trolley, also taking the Crimson Stone that is underneath them. Release the trolley once more and this time it will smash through the door, giving you access to Folnur’s dwelling. After talking to Folnur, he’ll give you 6 Kyolls

Grab the Morphing Object (i1) and the Collectible (i2), then select the pile of rocks by the minecart (i3). Move them to find a lever and add it to the hole in the same close-up to reveal the new improved mine cart.

Making the omnivorous acid

Take the Blacksmith’s Tongs (j1), find you need some heatonite to run the mine cart (by pressing j2 for a close-up), then take an Empty Flask and a Manuscript from the stove (j3), also noting what you need to make the omnivorous acid. You can do the first few stages now (all in the stove close-up). I like to do this to free up room in the inventory, so it’s easier to manage:

  • Click the water jug already in the close-up
  • Add the mushrooms
  • Grind the crimson stone
  • Use the spoon (in the close-up already) to get the crimson powder from the drawer under the grinder
  • Use the torch to light the stove
Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Now select the machine to the left of the mine cart (j4) to begin a track puzzle. Once complete (see the solution above if you’re stuck), select the area just behind that cart (j5) and use the flask to collect some Cave Tears. Put the cave tears by the oven (j3), remove the cork from the glass beaker that’s on the stove, then add the basilisk venom. You can now take the Omnivorous Acid

Head up to the stronghold and use the acid on the wire covering the hole (f6) then select the revealed hole to start a missing object mini-game, after which you’ll receive the Heatonite you need. Return to the dungeon, add it to the cart (j2), light it with the torch, and move on to the cave end.

The cave end

Examine the bodies (k1) to find 8 Kyolls, a Mechanism Piece, and a Dagger. The Collectible (k2) is in the arch and the Morphing Object (k3) is on the rock. Take another Mechanism Piece from the snow (k4), and then click the broken stairs (k5) to begin a placement puzzle (you can’t go wrong here). Once complete, click the hut above (k6) to find a Manuscript. Add the three mechanism pieces, click the four switches, and pull the lever to lower the bridges.

Return to the shop (e5), give Nomianna her box and she’ll give you 6 Kyolls. This gives you enough to get the Winter Clothing Set, so buy it and head back to the cave end. Now you can select the top of the bridges (k7) and move on to the exit to the mountains.

The Collectible is hanging from the rock (l1), while the Morphing Object is in the foreground (l2). Select the frozen rider (l3) and use the torch to melt the ice. Click them again for a close-up, take the Key, and use it to open the pack in the same close-up. Take the Lightning Element and Flaks of Rum from inside the pack, use the rum to warm up the fallen rider, and then take his Charged Staff.

Now select the ice barrier (l4) and use the staff to break through. After the cut scene, select the area on the ground that was uncovered (l5) and click the rocks a few times to unveil a buried giant corpse. You can’t take the book yet, but click the skull and use the tongs to remove a Giant’s Tooth. While you’re here, you can also examine the potential pass through the rocks (l6), but you don’t have the right gear to get through yet.

Return to the pumpkin store and sell the giant’s tooth for 30 Kyolls. Which gives you enough to buy the Rope. Go back to the mountains and move through the pass behind where the barrier stood (l4), arriving at the Mounthor’s Plateau. After another cut scene Maaron gives you the Flames Element
