Minecraft is one of the most popular gaming titles available on many platforms. As many gamers have multiple consoles, phones, and PCs, you may want to play Minecraft across these. This may leave you wondering if Minecraft is cross-platform.
Does Minecraft have Cross-platform?
The answer depends on what version of Minecraft you are playing. The Bedrock Edition of Minecraft allows cross-platform and cross-play across PC, consoles, mobile, and even VR. This means you will need to be playing this version of Minecraft if you want to take advantage of cross-platform play.

The Java version of Minecraft does not support cross-platform, as it is only available on PC. Any other platform where you play Minecraft will be the Bedrock Edition. Furthermore, the Java Edition is coded differently, so it is incompatible with the Bedrock Edition.
You will need either a Realm or a server to enable cross-platform play for Minecraft. These typically feature an additional cost, so don't be surprised if you have to pay up to play your world across multiple platforms. You may be able to find free server hosts, but you should beware, as some may be a scam.
