For excited new players taking on New World, the worst thing is to run into a bug. However, a few players have been running into a crash on launch, which appears as an “Unrecoverable Error.” Luckily there are a few quick fixes for this game-breaking bug.
The first is incredibly simple: Restart your computer. Restarting your computer will resolve the problem 99% of the time, and it shouldn’t happen again.
The second way is a bit more arduous but not complicated. Reinstalling the game will fix the issue most of the time. It shouldn’t occur again and is probably related to the corruption in the game files. This is solved during reinstallation.
The final way is the most complicated way. Some troubleshooters have linked the issue to the IPv6 internet protocol. This protocol is related to end-to-end data transmission and can sometimes cause errors with online games or peer-to-peer sharing programs.
To fix the “Unrecoverable Error” you need to disable the IPv6 protocol. To do this, navigate to the Control Panel. Make sure to change your View to Large Icons. From there, click on the Network and Sharing Center.
Once you’ve opened this, right-click on your active network connection. Scroll down to Properties, and this will give you a list of active items, which includes protocols. Scroll down and uncheck the Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) box.
New World should now launch without issues. If you run into more problems, repeat the previous steps until you have some success. Good luck!
