New World has many resources to find throughout its expansive world. One of these incredibly useful resources is fish oil. Fish oil is used in many cooking recipes and is rather straightforward on how to make it.
To make fish oil in New World, you will need a fishing pole and to catch fish. Once you have your fish, simply salvage it in your inventory. You will receive various resources and one of which may be fish oil. It is not guaranteed that you will get fish oil from every fish.
The best fish to salvage for fish oil are common and uncommon fish. This works out well because you should be catching the most of these. So if you want to be a great chef in New World, you will need to catch a lot of fish and salvage some fish oil.
You can find fish in the water, obviously, but some spots are better than others. For instance, you will likely want to stay in areas that are lower level just so you don't have to deal with high-level mobs interrupting your fishing. First Light and Windsward both have ample amounts of water to fish in, so these areas are great to farm fish oil.
