Best X-Factor Abilities in NHL 24

X-Factors make a difference!

NHL 24 features both X-Factor and Superstar Abilities that can be game-changers for players. Created players for Career mode, World of Chel, or Clubs, can equip different X-Factor abilities to be the best pro out on the ice. I like to experiment with different X-Factor abilities for both offensive and defensive players and found that some of the abilities are better for most situations.

Best offensive X-Factor abilities in NHL 24

The best X-Factor abilities will depend on what position you are playing and what your playstyle is. Ultimately, the best X-Factor abilities should benefit most offensive or defensive players except for Goalies. Here are the best offensive and defensive X-Factor abilities in NHL 24.

X-Factor AbilityDescription
Elite EdgesExceptional maneuverability with the ability to turn tight corners while retaining high speed.
Off The RushExceptional power and accuracy when taking slap shots while skating.
One TeeExceptional power and accuracy on one-timers. Greatly increases the ability to one time less than ideal passes.
Puck on a StringExceptional toe drag and stick handling speed.
Unstoppable ForceExceptional Strength with the puck and a greatly increased ability to hold onto the puck when off balance.
WheelsExceptional agility, speed, and acceleration when skating with the puck.

Note that you can only have one X-Factor ability equipped but can have several Superstar abilities equipped at once. The Superstar abilities are the same as the X-Factor but are not nearly as effective. The X-Factor you take should depend on what your archetype is and what shot type you are most effective with.

Best defensive X-Factor abilities in NHL 24

X-Factor AbilityDescription
Ice PackExceptional shot-blocking ability with additional range. Greatly improves recovery from blocked shots. Reduced injury and stagger chance.
Quick PickExceptional at intercepting pucks. Also significantly increases a player's range when intercepting pucks.
Stick 'Em UpPhenomenal defensive stick speed. Exceptional accuracy when poking, checking against momentum, or at speed. Greatly reduces the chance of a penalty.
ShutdownExceptional accuracy when poke-checking against momentum or at speed in rush situations. Also greatly improves shot blocking and hitting strength while defending against rush chances.
TruculenceExceptional stability and assist on shoulder checks. Greatly increases the chance of knocking over the opponent and sapping their energy.
Yoink!Exceptional accuracy when stick lifting against momentum or at speed. Opposing players take much longer to recover from stick lifts.

The defensive X-Factor you take should also depend on your archetype and playstyle. If you specialize in more technical defense, Yoink!, or Stick 'Em Up may be best for you, but if you are a bruiser that hits players off the puck, you may want Truculence or Ice Pack.
