How to play Ana

Image via Blizzard

Ana should be a mid to long-range healer, staying out of the front lines but not straying too far from the fight. Her rifle can be used both to heal allies and damage enemies and can be scoped in for precise aiming. She possesses a Biotic Grenade that you can use to heal allies or prevent enemies from being healed. Ana also has a Sleep Dart ability that temporarily incapacitates an enemy, although they will wake up if they take damage. As a member of the Support class, she receives self-healing over time. Finally, her ultimate Nano Boost empowers an ally, increasing their damage.

Ana's primary strength is her ability to shut down teamfights. While her healing is beneficial, her anti-healing turns the tide of a fight. With one well-timed Sleep Dart, she can prevent an ulting Genji from getting a team kill. If there is an opponent causing trouble in the backlines, Ana is far from helpless. On the other hand, Ana's healing kit is also intuitive and unique. Her Biotic Rifle heals allies instantly rather than over time. With her Biotic Grenade, Ana can heal her entire team in a medium area all at once. As a Support, Ana is indispensable to her team, with instant healing and anti-heal capacities.

How to play Baptiste

Baptiste specializes in area-of-effect healing at medium range. He wields a weapon that can fire in three-round bursts or launch a small projectile that pops and heals allies near the impact. His Regenerative Burst heals himself and nearby allies instantly, with extra healing over time. The initial burst of instant healing is doubled for any allies under 50% health. His most powerful ability is Immortality Field, which prevents allies from dying for several seconds but can be destroyed. Baptiste can also crouch to jump higher and possesses the general Support passive of self-healing over time.

Baptiste's greatest strength is his Immortality Field, which can nullify a potential team wipe and save teammates from certain death. The only other character who can use a similar ability is Kiriko, although Baptiste's ability lasts longer. When timed correctly, this small period of invulnerability can be vital to winning a teamfight, as its large radius can easily protect your entire team. As a Support, Baptiste excels in reflexive plays that can save his whole team.

How to play Brigitte

Brigitte specializes in melee combat and crowd control. She possesses a flail with an extended range that is deadly in close-quarters combat. With Repair Pack, she grants healing over time to one of her allies and can carry up to three healing charges. Brigitte can use Whip Shot to knock back enemies, hurling them away from her allies.

With Barrier Shield, she can hold up a protective barrier, which can be used to bash enemies with the attack button. Brigitte's ultimate is Rally, which grants movement speed and temporary health to allies in the area. Her Inspire passive grants healing to nearby allies when she deals damage, and her Support class passive gives her self-healing over time.

Brigitte's greatest strength is her ability to zone off enemies, constantly keeping them away from her teammates. If an enemy Damage hero is harassing her Support teammate, she can knock them back and handle the situation. She is also skilled at instigating fights with her Rally ultimate, creating an opportunity for her allies to push onto the objective.

How to play Kiriko

Kiriko specializes in quickly responding to the team's needs, switching between healing and dealing damage as needed. Her Healing Ofuda track allies and provide healing over time, while her Kunai deal increased critical damage. With Kiriko's Swift Step ability, she can teleport directly to allies, even without a direct line of sight.

Her Protection Suzu is the most powerful element of her kit since, like Baptiste's Immortality Field, it temporarily prevents allies from dying. Unlike Baptiste, Kiriko's Protection Suzu can cleanse negative status effects, including anti-healing, bleed damage, and stuns. Her ultimate Kitsune Rush creates a straight path that increases movement speed, attack speed, and ability cooldowns of any teammates in its vicinity. As a Support hero, Kiriko also receives self-healing over time.

Kiriko's primary strength is her Protection Suzu, which can instantly nullify potential threats. Even though this ability requires precise timing, its utility is worth the learning curve. With her ultimate's attack speed buff, she can turn some heroes into forces of nature, especially those who already have a quick fire rate. As a Support, Kiriko is a hero who can save the team in crucial moments, as long as you have a decent reaction speed. How to play Lucio

Lucio specializes in area-of-effect healing at close range. With Crossfade, Lucio can switch between healing allies and increasing their movement speed, all within a large radius around him. With Amp It Up, Lucio increases the effectiveness of Crossfade's healing or speed boost. Lucio can also use Soundwave to launch enemies away from him and his ultimate Sound Barrier to give nearby teammates temporary extra health. With his passive Wall Ride, Lucio can jump onto a wall to quickly skate across it, and his Support class passive gives him self-healing over time.

Lucio's greatest strength is his area-of-effect healing. This allows him to simultaneously fire at enemies without sacrificing his healing potential. This ability can also heal the entire team if they stick together in one area. Lucio's Sound Barrier is also quite effective at initiating a push onto the objective since it supplies the whole team with extra health for a few seconds. This prevents your team from instantly getting shot down as soon as the push starts, putting you at a disadvantage. Although Lucio's healing is not overwhelming, it is consistent, providing allies with a consistent source of regeneration.

How to play Mercy

Mercy specializes in resurrecting allies and giving her team a second chance. Mercy can switch between healing allies and granting them a damage boost with her staff. She can use Guardian Angel to propel herself toward allies and super jump to launch herself upwards. Her most powerful ability is Resurrect, which brings a recently eliminated ally back to life after a short period of channeling. With Angelic Descent, Mercy can fall slowly, floating across the battlefield. Mercy's ultimate Valkyrie allows her to fly, increasing the effectiveness of her abilities. As a Support hero, she also receives self-healing over time.

Mercy's greatest strength is her ability to redeem mistakes. If her ally is caught out of position, Mercy can swoop in and resurrect them, allowing for a push with the entire team. With her staff, Mercy's healing per second is quite impressive and can quickly be switched between teammates in need. Although she is no longer mandatory in team compositions, Mercy is still an excellent asset to any team due to her ability to bring allies back to life.

How to play Moira

Image via Blizzard

Moira specializes in dishing out massive amounts of both damage and healing. Moira can switch between healing allies and damaging enemies with her Biotic Grasp, although healing depletes her Biotic Energy. With Biotic Orb, Moira releases an orb that either heals or damages and bounces off walls.

She can use Fade to disappear briefly, become immune to damage, and quickly dash away, but she cannot attack during that period. Moira's ultimate Coalescence fires a beam that heals allies and damages enemies. As a Support hero, she receives the universal ability of self-healing over time.

Moira's primary strength is in her massive damage potential. Due to her kit, Moira must attack enemies to recharge her healing, and every one of her abilities has offensive capabilities. With a well-placed Biotic Orb, she can pick off low-health enemies, becoming a threat even when she is far away from the fight. She is an excellent choice for players familiar with the Damage class, but she can also heal when her team is in need.

How to play Zenyatta

Image via Blizzard

Zenyatta is skilled at putting pressure on the enemy team. With his Orb of Destruction, he can either fire individual projectiles or charge them to release a stronger attack. His Orb of Discord ability can be attached to an enemy to increase the amount of damage they take. Alternatively, his Orb of Harmony steadily heals an ally as long as he maintains a line of sight.

With the Snap Kick passive, Zenyatta receives a 50% boost to his quick melee damage and increased knockback. Zenyatta's ultimate is Transcendence, which temporarily makes him invulnerable, grants him movement speed, and rapidly heals nearby allies. As a Support hero, he also receives passive self-healing over time.

Zenyatta's greatest strength is his ability to confront the enemy team and apply pressure through his Orb of Discord or basic attacks. If an enemy Damage hero infiltrates the backlines, Zenyatta is more than capable of fighting back and eliminating the threat. His ultimate is also vital in a teamfight, as it can prevent a potential team kill and quickly restore allies to full health. He is also a wise choice for players accustomed to the Damage class playstyle.
