Before you can install it on your car, however, you will need a Side Rack crafted and installed onto the back end of your vehicle. Then, you can approach any of the racks and install the Lightning Rod on top.

You don't need to press any buttons to activate the Lightning Rod; it works as a passive object. With it installed, you can take electrical strikes to the car and transfer it to your battery for some free charge. This is particularly useful around Shock Towers or in storms with lightning. Keep in mind that your car can still be damaged by electricity, even though it will now charge your battery as well, so be careful how long you let the electricity hit you.

Running out of charge quickly in your battery? This is definitely a way to fix that, especially if you're heading into junctions with a high electrical charge. Save up materials to craft one and keep it on hand for when you need it most!
