Phasmophobia: Controller Support

Sometimes playing with a controller is easier, so is Phasmophobia supported?

Now that the month of horror is over doesn't mean that it has to stop! Phasmophobia is still one of the most innovative games in 2020, and with the array of updates it's been getting, such as update 3, which made the ghosts smarter, it's become exceedingly more terrifying! As Phasmophobia is only out for PC, it makes sense that a lot of gamers are wondering if you can use controllers to play it, as it's less confusing than the keyboard and mouse. So can you?

Controller Support Phasmophobia

Controller support has been fully implemented into Phasmophobia, so all you have to do is plug in an Xbox or PlayStation 4 controller, and you should be good to go. Sometimes the PS4 controller is less supported than the Xbox, but Steam generally does a good job of getting Sony controllers to work on its platform.

If players are having trouble with PS4 connectivity on Steam, the best and quickest way to fix it is to enter Steams Big Picture mode, as this mode was created for controllers in mind. To access this mode, to the right of your username in the top right-hand corner, there should be a small white box with two arrows - one arrow pointing at the bottom left corner and the other at the top right. By clicking this button, Big Picture Mode will activate.

On the Phasmophobia Trello board, controller support classed as 100% done on August 22, 2020, and here is the full checklist of features that have now been implemented or fixed:

  • Add basic controls.
  • Add Main Menu UI support.
  • Add pause menu UI support.
  • Add Journal UI Support.
  • Change the controls page buttons based on the last input - disable changing keybinds for gamepad.
  • Change Training controls based on last input.
  • Add support for unlocking doors.

Sadly, Phasmophobia is only available on PC as of now, and there is still no news if consoles will be getting a version of the coop horror title.
