Best Nature for Magikarp and Gyarados in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Which Nature is the best fit for the Atrocious Gyarados?

Natures are an important aspect of a Pokémon's performance in battle in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. A Pokémon's Nature will affect its stats, raising one by 10% and lowering another by 10%. This may not seem like much, but it does have a heavy impact on the Pokémon's ability to outpace its opponents, and can be the only thing that sets a player's Pokémon apart from the rest. A Pokémon will have a Nature by default when caught in Pokémon Legends: Arceus which can be found on that Pokémon's summary page.

Magikarp and Gyarados are an odd pair. Magikarp is known for its uselessness in battle, while Gyarados is one of the strongest non-legendary Pokémon available in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. For this reason, players should focus on what the ideal Nature is for Gyarados, as Magikarp will ideally not be around for long. Gyarados has a very high attack stat, so the best Nature will exemplify that in battle.

Best Natures

  • Adamant: Attack (+), Special Attack (-)
  • Lonely: Attack (+), Defense (-)

How to choose the best Nature

Gyarados' high attack stat gives it a huge advantage in battle, and with strong physical attacks like Iron Tail, Giga Impact, and Aqua Tail Gyarados is a real threat in battle. Because of this, the best Natures for the Pokémon are Adamant and Lonely, which will raise its attack stat and lower other stats that are not as important to Gyarados' performance in battle. Players should be sure to focus on physical attacks when using this Pokémon as those are the moves that will be boosted by these Natures.

These two Natures are not necessarily the best, and the actual best Nature will come down to a player's playstyle. If players don't often use physical attacks in battle, then these Natures wouldn't do them much good in the long run.
