All Magnezone weaknesses and Best Counters in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Magnezone may look like its floating but it isn't immune to Ground moves!

Magnezone is a very strong Pokémon in Scarlet & Violet and has a very high Special Attack. It can do a lot of damage to Pokémon even without having to rely on super-effective damage. Its biggest weakness is its Speed, but it has very good bulk with a high Defense and decent Special Defense. Many Pokémon aren't going to be untouchable by this, but some good counters won't take much damage from it. These are all of Magnezone's weaknesses and the best counters against it in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

What is Magnezone weak to in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

Magnezone is an Electric/Steel Type and can have one of three Abilities. Magnet Pull will prevent Steel Type Pokémon from switching out, making it dangerous to run into in the wild. Sturdy will cause Magnezone to survive at 1 HP if it gets hit at full HP, while Analytic will increase Magnezone's moves by 30% if it moves last. Apart from its weaknesses, it resists every other Type except for Ghost, Water, and Dark. These are its weaknesses:

  • Ground - 4x
  • Fighting - 2x
  • Fire - 2x

How to counter Magnezone in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Magnezone has very high Defense, but its Special Defense is a bit weaker. Hitting it on the Special side will usually be faster, but it also has access to Light Screen, which will halve the damage of Special moves. It will tend to have a Steel and Electric Type move if encountered in the wild, making Water, Ice, Rock, Flying, and Fairy Type Pokémon horrible matchups. In most situations, the best counter will be any of the best Ground Type Pokémon in the game.

Pokémon like Garchomp, Hydreigon, Gastrodon, Torkoal, or any Electric or Fire Types will be able to tank the hits from Magnezone without much issue. Earth Power or Earthquake will almost certainly take out Magnezone if it doesn't have Sturdy or the move Magnet Rise. Fighting Type Pokémon with Drain Punch will also be able to deal damage and recover their health at the same time.
