How to get Chipped Pot and Cracked Pot in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Let's evolve your Sinistea ro a Polteageist!

Chipped Pot and Cracked Pot are held items that will let you evolve your Sinistea into Polteageist. Polteageist is a Ghost-type Pokémon first introduced in Sword & Shield and one of few glass cannons that could carry you to the end of the game. Here’s where to get the items needed and how to evolve your Sinistea in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

There’s only one way to “farm” both items: to visit the auction aisle in Porto Marinada every day. The auctions will open after you deliver the water gym leader’s wallet to him and complete his gym challenge.

At midnight, the items for auction in Porto Marinada reset. If you’re lucky, you might see a Chipped Pot or Cracked Pot while you peruse. Enter that auction and win the item to succeed. You can reset Porto Marinada’s auction selection by changing the date and time on your Nintendo Switch.

We also found Chipped Pots and Cracked Pots in areas where Sinisteas spawn. You know those sparkling things that you can pick up? They can be anything from evolution items to potions. And sometimes, they can be Chipped Pots and Cracked Pots.

However, we don’t recommend hunting for the items this way, as there is no way to get these sparkles to reset or drop the things you need. If you don’t visit an area long enough, more of these items might appear.

Depending on your Sinistea, you need to give it a Chipped Pot or Cracked Pot. Authentic Sinisteas, or those with a blue mark underneath their cup, will evolve with a Chipped Pot. All other Sinisteas are counterfeits and will only evolve with a Cracked Pot.

The best way to “check” what type of Sinistea you have is to give it a Chipped Pot or Cracked Pot. Whatever item works or doesn’t work on it will determine its kind. You can also set up a picnic with Sinistea at your party and tilt the camera to see if there’s an authenticity seal (a small white tag) at the bottom. But we really don’t recommend this method, as the detail is too small.
