Shiny Pokémon are the most sought-after in Pokémon GO. These alternate-color variants are elusive and can be extremely tricky to get ahold of outside of Community Days. Some Pokémon even have their shiny forms released for a limited time, making them even more difficult to obtain. One of these limited time shiny Pokémon is Meltan.
How do you find Meltan in Pokémon GO?
Meltan is a mythical Pokémon that can be encountered in two ways. One is by completing the Let's Go, Meltan Special Research quests and the other is by obtaining and using a Mystery Box item. The Special Research quests are easy enough to complete, but the Mystery Box item can be a bit more tricky to find in the game. Using the Mystery Box item will cause Meltan to spawn consistently for one hour, which is helpful since it takes 400 Candies to evolve this Pokémon.
How to get the Mystery Box in Pokémon GO?
To obtain the Mystery Box, players need to transfer a Pokémon, either using the Pokémon Home app or to Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu or Let's Go, Eevee.
How to get the Mystery Box from Let's Go, Pikachu and Let's Go, Eevee
To get the Mystery Box using the in-game features from Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu and Let's Go, Eevee, players need to make quite a bit of progress in the game. Players need to open Pokémon Let's Go, Eevee or Pikachu and then head to the Communicate settings. From here, they should click on the Open Pokémon GO Settings. Players should also head to the settings menu in their Pokémon GO app to connect the app to their Nintendo Switch. Following the prompts on the screen, players can connect their Pokémon GO account to their Nintendo Switch account and begin the process of transferring Pokémon into the game.
Once the accounts are paired, players need to head to Fuchsia City in the Nintendo Switch game. To reach this area of the game, the player will need to have progressed into the game quite a bit. Once in Fuchsia, players should visit the GO Park Complex and talk to the attendant at the desk inside. This is where players can bring Pokémon from Pokémon GO into Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu or Eevee. Once a Pokémon has been transferred over, players should receive a Mystery Box in their Pokémon GO app.
How to get the Mystery Box from Pokémon Home
Transferring a Pokémon to Pokémon Home can be done by downloading the Pokémon Home app and then following the prompts on the screen to link the Nintendo Account associated with your Pokémon GO account. Once this is done, players can go to their settings in the Pokémon GO app and scroll down to find an option for Pokémon Home. Clicking on this option in settings and following its prompts will result in players obtaining the Mystery Box item.
How do you catch a shiny Meltan in Pokémon GO?
Once players have gotten their hands on a Mystery Box, it can be used to spawn Meltan. There will be plenty of chances to encounter a shiny Meltan, but there is no way to guarantee one will show up so players will need to use their Mystery Box and be sure to click on every Pokémon that spawns.
