How to unlock skills in Rune Factory 5

There are tons of different skills for players to invest in within Rune Factory 5. Some are more of daily tasks that will level up naturally as the player completes things, others will need to be acquired through purchasing a license. As players unlock and level each of their skill types, they will become more adept with more recipes, abilities, and bonuses.

All Rune Factory 5 skills and how to unlock them

Weapon Skills

• Short Sword - This skill improves with the use of a short sword. At higher skill levels it increases the damage dealt and reduces RP consumption. It will also increase the PC's max RP and Strength.
• Long Sword - This skill improves with the use of a long sword. At higher skill levels it increases the damage dealt and reduces RP consumption. It will also increase the PC's max RP and Strength.
• Spear - This skill improves with the use of a spear. At higher skill levels it increases the damage dealt and reduces RP consumption. It will also increase the PC's max RP and Strength.
• Axe/Hammer - This skill improves with the use of an axe or hammer. At higher skill levels it increases the damage dealt and reduces RP consumption. It will also increase the PC's max RP and Strength.
• Dual Blades - This skill improves with the use of dual blades. At higher skill levels it increases the damage dealt and reduces RP consumption. It will also increase the PC's max RP and Strength.
• Fist - This skill improves with unarmed fighting. At higher skill levels it increases the damage dealt and reduces RP consumption. It will also increase the PC's max RP and Strength.

Magic Skills

To upgrade and level up the spells, players will need to increase their friendship with Lucas to five. This will unlock Crystalabra's second expansion at Studio Palmo. The Crystalabra will allow Lucas to then level up the player's skills.

• Fire - This skill allows the player to cast fire spells. At higher skill levels it will increase the PC's max RP and reduce RP consumption. Intelligence, Magic Defense, and fire Magic Attack will also increase the high the skill.
• Water - This skill allows the player to cast water spells. At higher skill levels it will increase the PC's max RP and reduce RP consumption. Intelligence, Magic Defense, and water Magic Attack will also increase the high the skill.
• Earth - This skill allows the player to cast earth spells. At higher skill levels it will increase the PC's max RP and reduce RP consumption. Intelligence, Magic Defense, and earth Magic Attack will also increase the high the skill.
• Wind - This skill allows the player to cast wind spells. At higher skill levels it will increase the PC's max RP and reduce RP consumption. Intelligence, Magic Defense, and wind Magic Attack will also increase the high the skill.
• Light - This skill allows the player to cast light spells. At higher skill levels it will increase the PC's max RP and reduce RP consumption. Intelligence, Magic Defense, and light Magic Attack will also increase the high the skill.
• Dark - This skill allows the player to cast dark spells. At higher skill levels it will increase the PC's max RP and reduce RP consumption. Intelligence, Magic Defense, and dark Magic Attack will also increase the high the skill.
• Love - This skill allows the player to cast love spells. At higher skill levels it will increase the PC's max RP and reduce RP consumption. Intelligence, Magic Defense, and love Magic Attack will also increase the high the skill.

Farming Skills

• Farming - To unlock the farming skill, players need to till the soil with a hoe and plant seeds. Increasing this skill will increase the effectiveness of the farming tools. At high skill levels, it reduces the RP consumed and raises the max HP/RP and VIT.
• Logging - Cut down trees to unlock the Logging skill. At higher skill levels it will reduce RP consumed while raising the PC's max HP/RP and VIT.
• Mining - To unlock mining, use a hammer on ore found in caves. At higher skill levels it will reduce RP consumed while raising the PC's max HP/RP and VIT.
• Fishing - Purchase or craft a Cheap Pole to start fishing and unlock the skill. At higher skill levels it will reduce RP consumed while raising the PC's max HP/RP and VIT.
• Taming - Players will need a Monster Barn to keep monsters that the PC has befriended. It can be increased by taming, brushing, or giving presents to the monsters collected in the barn. At higher levels, this skill will increase Intelligence, raise the attack and defense of the monster companions, and make it easier to befriend monsters.

Recipe Skills

• Cooking - Unlocked by passing the Culinary license test from Saint Eliza at Rigbarth's Outpost. To gain more advanced recipes, players will need to pass the Pro Cooking License which will cost 500p. Afterward, repeatedly cooking recipes will slowly increase the skill.
• Forging - Unlocked by getting the Forging License. Players can get this by completing the First Directive task and then asking Saint Eliza for the license. This license will cost 200p. Then players can purchase a Forge from Studio Palmo.
• Chemistry - Get the crafting Chemistry License from Saint Eliza in order to gain access to the chemistry table and unlock the skill. This will allow players to craft medicine and potions to use on their travels. At higher skill levels players will gain more recipes and make it easier to learn more. It will also increase the max RP and Intelligence of the character.
• Crafting - After gaining the Crafting License from Saint Eliza, players can increase their skill by using the crafting table. Forging and Crafting go hand in hand and can be increased together. At higher levels, players increase the number of recipes they can use, makes the recipes easier to learn and increase their max RP and Intelligence.

Life Skills

• Searching - This skill is unlocked and increased by opening treasure chests and finding hidden objects. At higher skill levels it will increase the PC's max RP and Intelligence.
• Walking - This skill is automatically unlocked by walking and increases with each step taken. At higher skill levels it will raise the PC's max HP, max RP, Strength, Intelligence, and Vitality.
• Sleeping - This skill is automatically unlocked by sleeping, as it improves the PC will get more rest from sleeping. At higher levels, it will raise the PC's max HP, max RP, Strength, Intelligence, and Vitality.
• Eating - This skill is automatically unlocked by eating. At higher levels, it will raise the PC's max HP, max RP, Strength, Intelligence, and Vitality.
• Bathing - This skill is automatically unlocked by bathing. At higher levels, it will raise the PC's max HP, max RP, Strength, Intelligence, and Vitality.
• Throwing - This skill is automatically unlocked by throwing items and/or monsters. At higher levels, it will raise the PC's max HP, max RP, Strength, Intelligence, and Vitality.

Defense Skills

• Defense - This skill is unlocked by being hit by enemies. At higher levels, it will increase the PC's HP and Vitality.
• Resist Poison - This skill is unlocked by poisoning a foe or being poisoned. At higher levels, this will raise the PC's poison resistance, Intelligence, and Vitality.
• Resist Seals - This skill is unlocked and improved by sealing foes and being sealed. At high levels, this skill will raise the PC's seal resistance, Intelligence, and Vitality.
• Resist Paralysis - This skill is unlocked and improved by paralyzing foes and being paralyzed. At high levels, this skill will raise the PC's paralysis resistance, Intelligence, and Vitality.
• Resist Sleep - This skill is unlocked and improved by being put to sleep and making a foe sleep. At high levels, this skill will raise the PC's sleep resistance, Intelligence, and Vitality.
• Resist Fatigue - This skill is unlocked and improved by becoming fatigued and by making foes fatigued. At high levels, this skill will raise the PC's fatigue resistance, Intelligence, and Vitality.

Miscellaneous Skills

• Leadership - This skill is improved by leading a party of adventurers. The higher levels of this skill raise the player character's Strength, Intelligence, increase damage dealt, and decrease the damage taken.
• Bartering - This skill is improved by shipping items. The higher levels of this skill increase the player character's Intelligence.
• Catching - This skill is improved by catching enemies. It is needed to master the SEED-issued spell seal. At high levels, this skill will allow the player to restrain enemies for longer and reduce the cooldown for a power catch.
