What is an Abscess in Shin Megami Tensei V

Shin Megami Tensei V is the latest title from Atlus and takes players back to the franchise spanning over two decades. The newest RPG in the Shin Megami Tensei series has plenty of enemies for the players to confront, some of them hiding in mysterious places like an Abscess.

An Abscess is a mass of malignant energy that spawns strong enemies. Players can find Abscesses in the Netherworld. To dispose of these pockets of dark energy, players must confront the monsters at the heart of an Abscess by running directly into it.

Reaching an Abscess won't be easy, as enemies spawn in the vicinity of the obstacle. Be prepared to tackle several groups of enemies before facing the monster at the heart of the Abscess. The monster who controls the Abscess is also far stronger than his minions, meaning players will want to have plenty of HP, MP, and Magatsuhi ready when they face it.

Once players defeat the monster responsible for the Abscess, the mass disappears, clearing the area of empowered enemies while expanding the map simultaneously. Make sure to take out these masses as they appear to get a clearer picture of the places you'll explore.
