Chickens are able to lay eggs to make food for your Sims, enter into competitions, or even hatch a little chick. The act of hatching chicks does have a trick to it, though.

How do you hatch eggs in The Sims 4?

To hatch eggs in the Sims 4, you must first purchase a chicken coop (found in the activities and skills section of build mode), then purchase a hen and a rooster. Hens will lay eggs every day, but there will not be a chance the egg is hatchable unless there is both a hen and a rooster living in the same coop. If there is both a hen and a rooster in the coop, each egg will have a chance to be hatchable.

After finding one that is hatchable, click on that egg to see its options. Choose the option that says Hatch Egg. Your Sim will approach the egg and hold it, aiding in the egg hatching. After that, a chick will come out. This process can also be done with a longer wait time if you leave it in the coop.

Hatchable eggs are an egg status you can find on eggs that are laid within chicken coops in The Sims 4. In order to get baby chicks, you need eggs that have the ability to hatch (meaning they're fertilized). To check the status of any given egg, you just need to hover over the egg with your mouse and see whether or not the egg has a hatchable condition.

How to increase the chances of a hatchable egg

There is a way to increase the chances of a hen laying a hatchable egg in The Sims 4. Feeding your hen a Flirty Animal Treat will increase the chances of her laying a hatchable egg. The chickens still need to be taken care of by cleaning the coop, feeding them well, and increasing relationships with them. A well-cared-for hen will be more likely to give you baby chicks.
