Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 – Release date, trailer, platforms & more

Insomniac's Spider-Man, one of the biggest PlayStation titles, has now made its way to PC, allowing fans on both platforms to enjoy it. This is all just in time for the sequel, Spider-Man 2, which will follow Peter Parker and Miles Morales as the friendly neighborhood Spider-Men.

Spider-Man 2 will feature a new story, characters, and, of course, villains. Parker and Morales work together to keep New York safe from super threats, but will it be enough when they face some of their deadliest foes yet? Here is everything we know about Spider-Man 2.

What platforms will Spider-Man 2 be on?

At the time of writing, Spider-Man 2 will release on PlayStation 5. It will be leaving behind the PlayStation 4 and only releasing on next-gen hardware.

Is Spider-Man 2 a sequel?

Spider-Man 2 is a sequel to Marvel and Insomniac Games' Spider-Man. It will follow both Peter Parker and Miles Morales in a new adventure. We do not yet know what the story will hold or what villains the pair will face, but it promises to be even bigger than its predecessor.

It will feature new locations, such as Brooklyn, Queens, East River, and more. Fans can also enjoy new gameplay features, such as parrying and the ability to switch between Peter and Miles at a whim. New Web Wing suits give players even more freedom in exploring the world, which, when combined with Miles' gadgets, will truly enhance the exploration.

A new district progress system will unlock new rewards as you clear crime in specific regions. With this system, you can unlock new combat skills, traversal abilities, and gadgets. Spider-Man 2 looks to be bigger and better than the first Spider-Man, which is not an easy feat.

What villains will be in Spider-Man 2?

We have confirmation that Venom and Kraven are the primary antagonists of Spider-Man 2. But the Lizard plays a major role as well. However, what I am most excited about is a darker side of Parker through the Symbiote Suit. We expect other villains such as Kingpin, Wraith, and more. Many of these either appeared or were teased in Spider-Man or the Miles Morales DLC.

Is Spider-Man 2 Co-op?

Spider-Man 2 is no co-op despite featuring Peter Parker and Miles Morales. Instead, players can swap between both Spider-Men and play as either. Some missions require you to play as a certain Spider-Man, but some will require you to play as one or the other if you want to complete the mission. But you'll be able to switch between characters seamlessly and almost instantly.

Spider-Man 2 New Abilities and Gadgets

Peter Parker and Miles Morales have new abilities at their disposal. Parker has the new symbiote abilities, but one thing I am looking forward to is the web wings. With this, players have a new way to traverse the city and reach greater speeds. Both heroes have new AR tech in their suits, allowing them to spot activities and missions more easily. You can also expect over 65 suits and 200 ways to outfit Spider-Man.
