You will need to get fine wood for several crafting recipes in Valheim, such as the longboat and fine bow, so here is where and how to get fine wood in Valheim.
Where to get fine wood in Valheim
You can get fine wood in Valheim from birch and oak trees in the meadows biome by chopping them down with an axe. You will also need to use at least a bronze axe or higher, as you can't chop either tree down with a low tier stone axe. That said, you can make a bronze axe with the following materials.
To make a bronze axe, you will need the following materials inside a forge:
- Four wood
- Eight Bronze
- Two Leather Scraps
Once you get your bronze axe made, you can then chop birch and oak trees down to get fine wood.

Other ways to get fine wood in Valheim
Other than chopping certain trees down, there are quite a few different ways you can get fine wood in Valheim. To start, you can get fine wood from harvesting shipwrecks that sometimes spawn off the coast of both the meadows and black forest biome; along with this, you can also lure trolls to smashing the trees down for you.
You can also chop beech trees down and get them to fall on birch and oak trees; however, this method will probably be the least reliable for getting fine wood. Once you get fine wood through whatever process, we then recommend putting in a separate chest with your core wood and ancient wood as all three wood types are required for several specific recipes in the game.
