How to repair tools and weapons in Valheim

To repair tools and weapons in Valheim, you'll need a Workbench, which you can craft with 10 wood. Once the Workbench is built, you can repair all items by using the Hammer icon left of the Workbench Crafting tab. Make sure the items you want to repair are in your inventory before pressing the Repair button. You don't need your items to be in your hotbar before you can repair them. Repairing items also don't cost resources, so you can fix anything in your inventory free of charge as long as you have a Workbench with a roof over it. If there is no roof over your Workbench, the game will give a text popup saying the Workbench requires a roof.

We recommend placing your Workbench in a safe location inside your base and building a roof over it. If you need to repair out in the field, building a small structure with some walls and a roof is your best bet to repair your basic items. You won't be able to repair all of your items immediately, as some item types require a Workbench of a certain tier which you can get by upgrading your Workbench. For other items, you will need to make a Forge or certain crafting structures before you can repair the corresponding items.

How to repair Bronze, Iron, and high level items in Valheim

Once you advance crafting tiers in Valheim, any items you make that are part of Bronze, Iron, and other tiers can't be repaired in a Workbench. Instead, you'll have to repair them inside a Forge or the structure you originally crafted the item. Luckily, if you have bronze or iron items, you probably already have a Forge. For those who don't have a Forge, you can make one using the resources below:

  • Four stone
  • Four coal
  • Ten wood
  • Six copper bars
