How to upgrade your workbench in Valheim

So many upgrades, so little time.

Before you can craft a lot of the higher tier items in Valheim, you will need to upgrade your workbench; here's how to do it and what you need to do it.

How to upgrade the workbench in Valheim

To upgrade your workbench in Valheim, you will need to build one of four crafting items next to it; these items include the following, and building one of the four items will upgrade the workbench by one rank.

  • Chopping Block: Upgrades the workbench to rank two and requires ten wood and ten flint to build it; you will also need to get flint to unlock the crafting recipe for it.

Once you get one of the items listed above crafted, you will need to place it down near your workbench for it to upgrade by one level. After that, depending on how many items of the three crafting items you make, you will upgrade it by one rank to a max rank of five.

Along with this, with every upgrade you add to the bench, you will be able to upgrade your weapons, armor, and tools to that level; it will also unlock a few recipes with each upgrade.

You will also need to use a hammer and craft each one in the same way as your workbench; by right-clicking the hammer while it is selected in the hotbar to open up the build menu and selecting the crafting tab. After this, find and craft the item you want to make, as a side note if you haven't already you can craft a hammer with three wood and two stone.
