How to Fix Low FPS Bug in Valorant Client

Remove the annoying icon!

One of the most irritating errors while playing Valorant is the Low Frames Per Second (FPS) icon on the top of the screen. While the best solution for the error is to change out your CPU or GPU, you can implement simple solutions like turning off the instant replay feature and updating graphic drivers to improve FPS drastically before spending any big bucks on hardware.

Low FPS Bug in Valorant Fix

The following are some of the most common effective solutions to improve your FPS in Valorant and remove the annoying icon while playing.

  • Disable Graphic Card Instant Replay Overlay: You can get a lot of FPS by turning off the instant replay feature of your Graphics Card, which is enabled by default on AMD and NVIDIA cards alike. Press Alt+R (AMD) or Alt+ Z (NVIDIA) to open the replay settings. Also, turn off Windows Game Bar Overlay by pressing Windows + G and visiting its settings.

  • Updating Graphics Card Drivers: Updating your graphic cards can also solve the issue. Visit your GPU application (e.g. NVIDIA Control Panel or AMD Radeon) and update the driver for your card to its latest version there.
  • Turning off GPU/CPU-based applications: Before opening your game, be sure to close any CPU or GPU-based applications running in your background. Such software will eat up all the memory bandwidth and CPU cores required for your game, hampering the required FPS for a competitive experience. Also, turn off all the overlays for Discord, OBS Studio, and Xbox Game Bar.
  • Using an SSD: Running the game on a solid state drive (SSD) will help you gain a lot of FPS. So, transfer the game from your hard drive to the SSD.

  • Fullscreen Optimization: Disabling the Fullscreen Optimization of the Valorant application will also improve the FPS number by a small margin. Right-click on the Valorant.exe application and click the Properties option. Next, check the Disable fullscreen optimizations option under the Compatibility tab.

The above tips may or may not be valuable to users with very low-end GPUs. Still, there is no harm in trying when struggling with FPS.
