How to get rank gun buddies in Valorant

Are you ready to flaunt your rank?

Apart from taking in-game screenshots or sharing your profile on popular Valorant stat tracker websites like Tracker.gg, the only way to show off your hard-earned Valorant rank from previous seasons is to equip your gun buddy. Unlike other multiplayer games such as Apex Legends or Call of Duty, it is the only reward that the player receives for climbing up the ranks. To equip the gun buddy in Valorant, visit the Collections section from the main menu.

The rank gun buddies are only given to players who have participated in competitive matches and received placement ranks in the previous act. To play placement rank matches in Valorant, each player must fulfill the following conditions.

  • They must be above level 20 and win ten unrated matches.
  • After that, players can access the competitive or ranked game mode. Play a total of 5 games, and depending on the results of these matches, you will earn your rank.
  • Remember, people who are trying competitive for the first time are only required to play a total of 5 games. Existing players can claim their rank immediately after one match.
  • Now, win games to climb the ranks, and your highest rank obtained at the end of that season will be rewarded in the form of a ranked gun buddy next season.

What are gun buddies and ranked gun buddies in Valorant?

Gun buddies are small items that resemble the likeness of any keychains in the market. But instead of attaching them to any metal key, gun buddies are equipped as fancy items on the side of weapons. This culture of coupling cute-looking miniatures with weapons is not new to Valorant, as several popular multiplayer games like Apex Legends, Fortnite, and Call of Duty have incorporated this cosmetic feature since their launch.

Ranked gun buddies are nothing but regular gun buddies that display the rank of your previous seasons. For example, if your highest rank in last season was gold III, you will obtain a gold-colored gun buddy with three written on it along with the details of the season. I personally love to flaunt my Immortal rank on my phantom in custom matches between my friends.
