There are a lot of legendary weapons in the Warhammer 40k Darktide universe that have become staples for sci-fi weapons over the years. Laser-based weaponry, known in-universe as "las-weapons," represent the foot soldier's weapons. They are well-rounded, easy to produce and maintain, and simple to use. But most importantly, they are cheap. As a result, Lasgun variants are quite possibly the most common weapon kind in the Imperium of Man.
What are all the Lasgun Variants in Warhammer 40k Darktide?
Lasguns all work on the same principle in Warhammer 40k Darktide. The difference between their variants is in the balance of power and how that power is distributed per shot. This guide focuses on the three main variants that appear in the game. Individual models are also mentioned, but since there are minor differences in weapon stats between them, we won't be going into further detail. They all share the same core mechanics and function similarly. With that in mind, here are the main Lasgun variants featured in the game.
Infantry Lasgun
This Lasgun is the bread and butter of the Imperial Guard. It's likely the first Lasgun that you will use in-game. It is very well-rounded in terms of magazine size, damage, and rate of fire. It's a go-to semi-automatic starting variant until you figure out which playstyle suits you the best.
Recon Lasgun
The Recon Lasgun variant is all about the rate of fire. Its outstanding trait is Rapid Fire, enabling it to fire in full auto. Individual shots won't do much damage, but its sustained rate of fire gives it crowd-control ability. It also has a large ammo reserve to back it up. Sustained fire on big enemies is also viable with this weapon type. You can run it on your Veteran with Deadshot + Infernus trait for a powerful combination.
Hellbore Lasgun
Used by the elite Kasrkin of Cadia, this Lasgun variant is famous in the Imperium for its single-fire damage and accuracy. Still mobile enough to be wielded by a foot soldier, this Lasgun packs a monster-killing punch. It's not famous for its rate of fire, being adapted for the dead-eye shots of the Imperium's elite, so you will need to aim carefully and go for headshots whenever possible.
