Witchfire captured my attention with its unique look and premise, and I've been eager to dive in to fight some witches. Combining gunplay and spell-slinging with rogue-like elements creates an exciting and challenging gameplay loop, and I've had my fair share of failed runs even after upgrading my stats. As a result, I can't help but wonder if having a partner would make things easier, so I was curious if Witchfire had co-op, especially with comparisons to Destiny and Remnant being made.
Does Witchfire have Co-op Multiplayer?
The answer is no, there are no co-op or multiplayer features in Witchfire. Witchfire is a single-player title, and you cannot play it with friends, at least during the early access period. Witchfire is an extremely difficult game, especially in the beginning, so I do think it would be a great feature to play with a friend and improve my odds of surviving.
Will Witchfire get Multiplayer?
Witchfire's developer, The Astronauts, is open to the idea of introducing multiplayer co-op but has not 100% committed to it. They state in a blog post, "For now and possibly forever, this is a single-player game. There is a very slight chance we will attempt to do co-op, but please do not count on it."
So, while Witchfire may receive multiplayer in the future, there is no guarantee, especially if The Astronauts feel it detracts from the game's overall experience. I would love to see multiplayer or at least two-player co-op, but it can be a hard feature to implement. Those interested in multiplayer must wait and see, but shouldn't get their hopes too high.
