When you unlock the red safe in Luca's grandfather's study, you'll find that the secondary door in the previous room is now unlocked. Go through that door to find the kitchen of the grandfather's home. When you begin investigating clues, the power will go out and a red emergency light will come on. Luca remarks you need to go to the basement to power the generator.

Locate the Grandfather's Basement

To find Luca's grandfather's basement, you'll need to go through the doorway on the right-hand side of the dining room table (pictured above). After going through that archway, keep walking straight until you see a set of dark wooden stairs. Go down these stairs to reach the entry of the basement. It's a bit dark, so use your camera's flash if you have trouble winding down the steps.

Find the Generator & Breaker Panel

The generator is a large dull green tank with pipes attached to it. It is located in the first actual room (rather than corridor) of the basement, on the right-hand side. Again, use your camera's flash if you are having trouble seeing in the dark. The breaker panel will be located within the same room of the basement as the generator.

How to turn on the generator in MADiSON

To turn on the large generator in the basement, you'll need to scour the walls for the breaker box perpendicular to it. This box is a white rectangle that says WARNING and has six switches inside. The panel controls the generator and requires some finagling to get it up and working once again.

What is the generator's breaker panel code?

To solve the breaker panel puzzle, you'll need to approach the box on the wall and interact with it. This brings up a set of switches that you have to control in sequential order from left to right. Successfully solving this puzzle requires you to follow these steps:

  • The first breaker is set to ON (green).
  • The second is set to ON (green).
  • Set the third breaker to OFF (red).
  • Flip the fourth breaker ON (green).
  • The fifth breaker will need to be ON (green).
  • Finally, set the sixth breaker to OFF (red).
