How to fix Warhammer 40k Darktide crashes

To fix Warhammer 40k Darktide crashes, you must ensure your system is in top shape to run the game. Besides obvious things like checking your system settings or updating your graphic card, one good fix is to verify your Steam files. You can verify your Steam Files for Darktide by right-clicking on the game's name in your library and clicking Properties. Clicking Properties will open up a small tab window with a list of options. In the options menu, select the option that says Local Files. Under the Local Files option, you can find the option to Verify your Steam Files for Darktide.

That said, verifying your Steam Files is a good idea, as if you are playing on PC, there's a good chance the game failed to download one or more files. Another possible fix for PC users is to reinstall Visual C+ 2019 Redistributables. You can find a version of Visual C+ 2019 Redistributable by going to the Microsoft site. You can also fix some crashes by disabling overlay programs and recording software such as the following:

  • RivaTurner
  • ShadowPlay
  • Fraps
  • Reshade
  • AMD Chill
  • Nivida Geforce app

Another reported fix to make the game more stable was playing with a VPN, but others said this was not working for them. Most fixes are like this and are not guaranteed to fix everything. It's also important to remember that the Pre-order Beta is a testing phase, so a smooth experience is not guaranteed right out of the gate. If you are experiencing constant issues, we recommend waiting at least a day for the servers to calm down or for the most significant issues to get patched out.

How to update your graphics driver

If you need to update your graphics driver for Darktide, the best way is to do a full uninstall using a program like DDU. Before uninstalling your driver, make sure to download a new version from either AMD or Nivida Geforce. Once you download your driver, run DDU and select Clean and Restart after selecting your driver in the Uninstaller. Let the Uninstaller run and then open the driver installer you just installed to reinstall a new version of your Graphics card driver.
