Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is a weird game that occasionally refers to its various enemies in the most strange ways possible. In short, players will get repeated references to enemies such as Corrupters, Dregs, and Scabs in both mission objectives and Penances. One such odd naming convention is what the game calls a Monstrosity. It's unclear what a Monstrosity is or what Darktide considers one, but luckily it's hard to figure it out. Here's what the Monstrosity Enemy is in Warhammer 40k Darktide.
What is the Monstrosity Enemy Type in Warhammer 40k Darktide?
If you ever get a mission objective or Penance that involves killing an enemy called a Monstrosity, it usually refers to Beasts of Nurgle or Plague Ogryns. Both bosses fall under the classification of Monstrosity, but the game could do a better job of explaining it outside of referencing it a few times. That said, here's where you can find both Monstrosities in Warhammer 40k Darktide.

Where to find a Monstrosity in Warhammer 40k Darktide
To find Monstrosities such as Beasts of Nurgle or Plague Ogryns, your best bet is to play high-threat level missions of at least Malice Threat level or higher. In short, it doesn't appear that either Beast of Nurgle or Plague Ogryns spawn on particular maps. Instead, it appears most Monstrosities spawn randomly but more on higher threat-level missions. Because of this, your best bet for finding one to complete Penances and other achievements is to play on Malice or higher threat-level missions.
How to beat Monstrosities in Warhammer 40k Darktide
If you are trying to beat Plague Ogryns and Beasts of Nurgle, your best bet is to work with your teammates and focus all attacks on them in Warhammer 40k Darktide. One good method we recommend for tackling both bosses is to have one Skullberaker in your squad with a Slab Shield. The Skullbreaker with the Slab Shield's job is to agro the boss and use the unique ability of the slab shield to block all damage. While the boss is distracted and the Skullbreaker is tanking all damage, other teammates must focus fire and slay Plague Ogryns or Beasts of Nurgle.
Following this method will also help you cheese the Demonhost boss in Warhammer 40k Darktide, but in all cases, the Slab Shield tank method requires teamwork. Because of this, we recommend only using our Slab Shield method if you play Darktide with a full squad or at least three friends. You can also solo using this method if your character is a Skullbreaker. Just use the in-game chat to communicate with your teammates, so they can join in and help.
