Upgrading your weapon might be a tedious task; you'll need blueprints, parts, and resources. Also, you can upgrade your guns only at upgrade stations. Although you can respec your weapons and abilities, you don't want to waste time on subpar builds.

What are the best weapon upgrades in Atomic Heart?

Best upgrade for Swede

Swede is the first weapon you will find in the game, and it is a well-balanced axe with some destructive severe potential. More importantly, the Reverse Medical Inductor upgrade lowers the need for healing items because each kill you make with Swede will heal you a bit.

Best upgrade for KS-23

KS-23 is the first gun you find and is very reliable throughout the game. This trusty shotgun is handy in stopping the droves of aggressive robots, and upgrading it with the Electromagnetic Polarizer increases an already solid weapon's damage and fire rate.

Best upgrade for Electro

Atomic Heart is very sparse with ammunition, especially on higher difficulty, and Electro is a handy gun because it doesn't require any ammo. Aside from that, it's an average weapon, but upgrading Electro with EMP Generator gives it an additional AoE attack that damages multiple foes.

Best upgrade for Zvezdochka

Zvezdochka, or Little Star in Russian, is a scary weapon that, when fully upgraded, can easily take down the most powerful enemies. The Extra Saw upgrade will add another spinning blade, significantly increasing damage output. You can combine this upgrade with the Saw Dance for the full devastating effect.

Best upgrade for Kalash

Most players pick the Kalash as a central weapon in their loadout. The default Kalash model's biggest flaws are it quickly burns through the magazine and has low damage per round. That's why the Extended Magazine upgrade is so good; it gives Kalash a seemingly infinite ammo cheat.

Best upgrade for Fat Boy

Fat Boy is a typical rocket launcher, which means it fires big dumb missiles and is suitable for the same type of enemies. Upgrading this weapon with Homing Projectiles changes its purpose entirely, making it useful even against more agile opponents.

Best upgrade for Dominator

Being energy-based, Dominator is one of the weapons with high damage output, but it spends a lot of energy as a trade-off. The Vortex Transducer upgrade solves that problem by lowering energy costs while maximizing the weapon's damage.

Best general weapon upgrade

The Cartridge Module upgrade gives certain weapons an additional slot. Players can put different status effects in these slots, which is very useful for dealing more damage to enemies, as all enemies in Atomic Heart have at least one status effect they are vulnerable against. The Cartridge Module allows players to switch status effects according to the enemy they're facing.
