Cities Skylines 2 building upgrade system, explained

Cities Skylines 2 has come quite a long way since the original game or even any city-building game, where placing buildings had only a limited effect on your gameplay. Now, however, Cities Skylines 2 has a brand new building upgrade system. I'll tell you all about it below.

How do building and city service upgrades work in Cities Skylines 2?

The all-new Cities Skylines 2 upgrading system increases the efficiency of almost every kind of service building you can place in the game, and then unlocks newer upgrades as you develop your city further, gaining experience and use development points via the progression tree. So say if I were to have a crematorium, I could then purchase a temple upgrade, providing a buff such as +2 Well-Being within a certain radius further improves the living conditions of my city.

This whole system gives a ton of depth to Cities Skylines 2 as compared to the previous generation. Even better: upgrades are actual placeable structures that don't require any road connections, so you don't have to worry about any pre-planning disasters like I usually end up having.

I find the new system gives the game so much character and makes it a lot more fun to play without feeling deserted after a while, making it more interactive by keeping you involved in a skill-tree system, which then leads into a system of further developing your structures.
