Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty further branches the main story, introducing four new possible endings depending on your choices. Songbird and Reed are pivotal characters in this expansion, and at a certain point in the game, I had to pick which one I would side with. If you're like me, you will want to discover all possible outcomes to make proper choices. This guide will cover all the pivotal moments in the story and their outcomes so you can tailor your gameplay experience to your liking.
Every Reed and Songbird choice in Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty
As you play through the later missions of Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty, you will encounter several key points where the game forces you to pick a side between Reed and Songbird. These choices will affect the story path, with its outcomes shaping into one of the four different game outcomes.
Should you help Reed capture Songbird or let her escape during Firestarter in Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty?
During the tenth mission in Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty called Firestarter, you will encounter the first dialogue with branching paths. Once the Songbird notifies Hansen the mainframe is ready, you will find yourself in the room with her alone. Once you plug in, she will prompt you to enter the access codes, and you will have the first dialogue choice:
- Help Songbird escape | I'm with you.
- Help Reed capture Songbird | One more second...
Choosing the first dialogue option lets you side with So Mi, leading into the Killing Moon mission. Choosing this path will lead to a further branch, which opens two possible endings. If you pick this option, you will unfortunately be unable to obtain some of the missable Iconic weapons. During this path, you will have one more opportunity to double back and go with Reed's plan, but doing so changes the story for the worse.

If you decide to go with the second option and help Reed capture Songbird, thus bringing her back to the FIA fold, the game will lead you into the Black Steel in The Hour Of Chaos mission. Songbird will enter a state of cyberpsychosis and turn on you, then escape and run rampant throughout the city, leading to her arrest by MaxTac. This path will further lead to another set of choices where you must choose to either kill Songbird or give her to FIA.
Should you give up Songbird or kill Reed during the Killing Moon mission in Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty?
After escaping the stadium with Songbird at the end of the Firestarter mission in Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty, wait for two days for her to contact you again. Once So Mi calls, she will initiate the final mission in the expansion called the Killing Moon. During the mission, you must get So Mi to the spaceport so she can travel to the moon to get cured. During your attempt to sneak her into a shuttle, NUSA forces will show up, culminating with a confrontation with Reed. One of the pivotal dialogue points will appear:
- Pick up Songbird | Time to go
- Pick up Songbird | Wake the hell up.
- Call Reed | Reed will take care of you.
The first two dialogue options will yield a final standoff with Reed, who gets in your way to the shuttle. Provoking a fight in any way will cause him to shoot you, and so will walking toward him. The only way to get out of the situation alive is to either give up Songbird or draw your weapon and shoot Reed. If you take him down, you will obtain his Pariah pistol, one of the iconic weapons exclusive to Phantom Liberty.
- Reed, dammit!
- Holster weapon | All yours, but you'll help me live on.
- Holster weapon | Take her. Don't want nothin' in return.
- Draw weapon | Sorry, man.
The first and the last dialogue options will cause you to draw a weapon and shoot Reed down. The Holster weapon options will yield the same result: handing over So Mi to FIA. This choice will trigger the most optimal ending, allowing everyone to live by the end of the game.
Should you kill Songbird or give her to FIA in Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty?
If you've chosen to help Reed capture Songbird during the mainframe initiation scene, then you have witnessed So Mi being taken by MaxTac forces. After fighting the NCPD during the Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos, you will eventually find So Mi in the Cynosure bunker core at the end of the Somewhat Damaged mission. While withering away due to the effects of the Blackwall, she will desperately plea for you to kill her.
- Kill So Mi | OK, I'll do it.
- Spare So Mi | Won't do it.
- Spare So Mi | So Mi, I need the FIA's help. So I need you alive.
The first choice will lead you to pull the plug out of her head, flatlining her almost immediately. Reed will arrive soon after to collect her body for the drop-off. Both Reed and Rosalind Myers will be cross with you for not saving her. The only reward you will get is a mere 5000 eddies. V won't obtain a cure if you choose this storyline.
The second two choices will both lead to the same outcome. You and Reed will drive So Mi to the pickup point, where the FIA agents will take her away to be cured. Rosalind Myers Will award you a medal and a cure for V's condition. This ending is better than the former, but you will find out later on that So Mi's neural matrix didn't take, leaving her to remain in a crippled state.
