Who is Capitano in Genshin Impact?

Who is Capitano from Genshin Impact?

It's still not for certain which rank Capitano is within the Fatui Harbingers. Although, thanks to Childe's About The Captain voice line we can gather two things: that he is very skilled in combat and that he has a high ranking, likely second or fourth. From the trailer we know that he is tall with a deep male voice. He also wears a full coat and an iron mask that completely obscures his face. His voice line in that trailer seems to indicate he places high value in honor.

Are the Bloodstained Chivalry Artifact set descriptions about Capitano?

Due to the iron mask that he wears and his emphasis on honor, fans have theorized that he might be related to the knight described by the Bloodstained Chivalry Artifact set. This theory is highly plausible given that other Fatui Harbingers have had their own backstories revealed in Artifact set descriptions, such as La Signora in the Crimson Witch of Flames Artifact set.

The Bloodstained Chivalry Artifact set tells the story of a knight who rescued a damsel in distress. She offered him many rewards, but he only took a white flower from her, saying chivalry was its own reward. He continued to fight for her, but fought so many monsters of the Abyss, that it "had turned him from the white knight he used to be into the monster he had now become." The knight's journey took him to the depths of the Abyss where he "learned the origin of the monsters that destroyed the ancient kingdom." He managed to return from the Abyss to Teyvat, but found that which he was trying to protect destroyed. From then on the knight permanently donned a mask, vowing to shield the eyes of those he would protect from the monster he had become.

While the "ancient kingdom" could be a reference to Khaenri'ah, the knight's story shares many, many similarities with that of Imunlaukr, a warrior of Sal Vindagnyr. If Capitano is Imunlaukr, it would make him nearly 2000 years old. It would also give him more than enough reasons to have become a Fatui Harbinger and join in their quest to overthrow Celestia.
