How to defeat Ravagers in Horizon Forbidden West

How do you defeat these menacing machines?

Ravagers can do both close-up melee damage and accurate long-range damage in Horizon Forbidden West. There isn't much players can do about the melee damage other than avoiding it, but the long-range attacks can be squelched. Taking out a Ravager's Ravager Cannon on top of its back will disable their long-range laser attack, which can turn the tides of a battle against one of these machines.

There are a few different body parts on a Ravager, but each one will drop different loot and deal different amounts of damage to the machine when attacked by players. The body parts on a Ravager are:

  • Body
  • Ravager Cannon
  • Sparker
  • Glowblast Canister
  • Antenna

Loot

Machines in Horizon Forbidden West will drop different loot items, and many are specific to each kind of machine. The Ravager will drop a long list of loot items:

*Loot items marked with an asterisk are exclusively dropped from the Ravager machine.

Cauldron

In Horizon Forbidden West, Cauldrons allow players to override the machines that are within that Cauldron once they have completed it. Completing a Cauldron usually means traversing through its dungeon-like corridors and facing off against a boss at the end. The Ravager is a part of the IOTA Overrides Cauldron.
