Launching a mew live-service fame is a complicated art, and some issues can often come with it. A game that hosts millions of players on multiple servers is just a recipe for technical issues. Unfortunately, this is the case with Lost Ark, which pushed the developer to lock up the servers to handle the huge influx of players.
In Lost Ark, all servers are essentially the same, though there are a few reasons a player may want to choose a certain server. For example, you may want to be on the same server your friends or favorite streamer is playing on. However, with Lost Ark launching a few days earlier for players who purchased the Founder’s Pack, some servers were full before many people could even play the game.
Everyone wants to play on the same server, which leads to overpopulation and extremely long queue times. This has led the Lost Ark developers to lock some of the most popular servers for new characters to ensure a better distribution between the servers and shorter queue times across the board.
The developers have not given us a timeline of when the servers will be unlocked, but you can expect it to be for at least a few days. The Western audience has been long-awaiting this game, and while it’s unfortunate that some servers are locked, it's clear that the devs are still trying to provide the best experience possible.
That is why some of Lost Ark’s servers are locked. Since server transferring is not possible, we recommend that players play on a certain server and wait until that server is unlocked. We will keep you updated with Lost Ark server issues as they arise.
