How to get and use Iron in New World

Here's everything players need to know about getting and using iron in New World.

If you are trying tog et Iron in New World, it's easy as it spawns quite often all over Highland areas in the game, especially in the Monarch's Buff and Weaver's Fen regions. You also don't have to worry about meeting a level requirement as you will start out in the game being able to gather iron. Although if you level your mining skill to level 25, the ability to track it becomes unlocked.

Because of this, we highly recommend leveling your mining skill, and the easiest way to do it is to simply mine more iron or other ores. Also, you will need a pick axe to mine any ore in the game, but If you don't have one, you can craft one really easily by going into your tools section under crafting.

That being said, there are a few locations in the game where you can find iron more often than not, and the first of them would be dankfur hollow. If you read our silver guide, you will also know this location is a good place to find silver as well, the same goes for iron. It's also a monster den, so expect to see plenty of dankfur wolves ready to attack you, but these should be around your level, so no cause for alarm.

Dankfur hollow is also south of the main settlement in Windsward, so just head south if you are trying to find it from there. After you loot dankfur hollow of all its iron goodies, we recommend checking Letum's Pick and the wolf den near first light for iron afterward.

Once you got some iron, you will be able to use it to make it into ingots at a settlement via smelter and then turn it into various weapons and armor provided you have the necessary skills. It will also take around three iron ores to make one full ingot, so keep that in mind with trying to smelt iron ore.
