Many video games use different colors to denote loot rarity, and New World is no exception. By quickly looking at an item, you can determine the item's quality and decide whether to equip it or scrap it.
Per New World's website, there are four different tiers of rarity, and items in each tier can have up to a certain number of perks. The table below details the different tiers.
Loot Tier | Color | Potential Number of Perks |
Common | None | 0 |
Uncommon | Green | 1 |
Rare | Blue | 2 |
Epic | Purple | 3 |
It is important to note that even though an item can have a certain number of perks, it doesn't always mean that it will. You will often find uncommon items, for example, with no perks.
There is another tier to items: the legendary tier. These items are orange, have specific names, and have curated perks and gear score. They will often be the best items you can find.
Loot rarity isn't always the best way to determine an item's quality. Be sure to read each item's stats and perks. You may find that a uncommon item is better for your character than a rare item.
Veterans of other MMOs will certainly recognize New World's colored loot rarity system. It provides a quick way for players to judge the quality and rarity of an item. However, it's always worth reading each item's description and determining which is best for your character.
