Best Normal Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Normal Pokémon are cool too.

Normal-type Pokémon often get a bad rap for being boring or plain, but Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are full of fantastic Normal types. These feature only a weakness to Fighting unless paired with another type and have stab bonuses from many moves. This may leave you wondering what the best Normal-type Pokémon are in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet - Best Normal Pokémon to use

While there are many Normal-type Pokémon, some stand out more than others due to their stats, typings, abilities, and moves. We have compiled a list of the best Normal-type Pokémon you can find and catch below. Here are the best Normal Pokémon to use in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

1. Maushold

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Maushold may not seem like much on the surface, but it easily claims the best Normal-type Pokémon spot. This is thanks to its signature move, Population Bomb. When given the Wide Lens held item and having its hidden ability Technician, this multihit move becomes one of the strongest moves in the game. You can further boost its effectiveness with a nature that increases its Attack. Here are Maushold's stats in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

  • Total: 470
  • HP: 74
  • Attack: 75
  • Defense: 70
  • Special Attack: 65
  • Special Defense: 75
  • Speed: 111

2. Cyclizar

Cyclizar is a Normal/Dragon-type Pokémon with great Speed and a good Attack. This lets it capitalize on its powerful Dragon-type moves and have the coverage of a versatile move set. It has the Shed Tail move, which, when paired with its Regenerator ability, makes Cyclizar an annoying Pokémon to deal with. Here are Cyclizar's stats in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

  • Total: 501
  • HP: 70
  • Attack: 95
  • Defense: 65
  • Special Attack: 85
  • Special Defense: 65
  • Speed: 121

3. Farigarif

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Farigarif is the evolved form of Girafarig and retains its Normal/Psychic-type combination. This makes it only weak to Bug and Dark-type attacks while also removing its weakness to Fighting Pokémon. Combining this with its incredible HP and high Special Attack, Farigarif can hit hard and stay on the battlefield for quite some time. Its Armor Tail ability is also great, as it prevents priority moves from the opponent. Here are Farigarif's stats in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

  • Total: 520
  • HP: 120
  • Attack: 90
  • Defense: 70
  • Special Attack: 110
  • Special Defense: 70
  • Speed: 60

4. Dudunsparce

Dudunsparce has also been something of a joke, and its evolution Dudunsparce amps this up. But this Normal-type Pokémon is no joke on the battlefield thanks to its ability Serene Grace. This lets it use the dangerous Coil and Headbutt strategy to inflict massive stab damage and cause the opponent to flinch. Throw Glare into the mix to paralyze the opponent and Dudunsparce and steamroll through your opponent's Pokémon. Here are Dudunsparce's stats in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

  • Total: 520
  • HP: 125
  • Attack: 100
  • Defense: 80
  • Special Attack: 85
  • Special Defense: 75
  • Speed: 55

5. Arboliva

Arboliva features fantastic Special Defense and Defense, which allow it to tank many hits. You can combine this with healing moves such as Leech Seed, Ingrain, Synthesis, Giga Drain, and its ability Seed Sower to ensure it stays at full health. Arboliva does have a lot of weaknesses, so you will need to be careful what you use it against. Here are Arboliva's stats in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

  • Total: 510
  • HP: 78
  • Attack: 69
  • Defense: 90
  • Special Attack: 125
  • Special Defense: 109
  • Speed: 39

6. Staraptor

Staraptor's incredible Speed and Attack make it perfect for a physical sweeper. While its bulk isn't the best, its Intimidate ability will reduce the opposing Pokémon's Attack, allowing it to take more hits. This lets Staraptor blaze through the opponent's team using stab Normal and Flying-type attacks. Here are Staraptor's stats in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

  • Total: 485
  • HP: 85
  • Attack: 120
  • Defense: 70
  • Special Attack: 50
  • Special Defense: 60
  • Speed: 100

7. Braviary

Braviary evolves late for a Pokémon, but it is a powerhouse of a Normal/Flying-type Pokémon. Its incredible Attack, good HP, and decent Speed give it versatility. You can opt to go for Sheer Force or Defiant for its ability, as either will provide a bonus to Braviary's offense. The only downside of Braviary, though, is its lackluster move pool. Here are Braviary's stats in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

  • Total: 510
  • HP: 100
  • Attack: 123
  • Defense: 75
  • Special Attack: 57
  • Special Defense: 75
  • Speed: 80

8. Grafaiai

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Grafaiai is a little menace in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, featuring good Speed and Attack. But its main appeal is the Prankster ability, which gives its status moves +1 priority. This lets it get off moves like Taunt and Toxic first, which can really throw a wrench in your opponent's plan. Grafaiai also has a wide variety of moves that can be used for offense or other Prankster plays. Here are Grafaiai's stats in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

  • Total: 485
  • HP: 63
  • Attack: 95
  • Defense: 65
  • Special Attack: 80
  • Special Defense: 72
  • Speed: 110

9. Ursaring

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Ursaring is a powerful pure Normal-type Pokémon with 130 Attack and a decent bulk. This lets it dish out damage while tanking hits from your opponent. You can opt between Guts and Quick Feet, which will increase its Attack or Speed when inflicted with a major status condition. This can let it deal out more damage or give it a slight boost to Speed that it desperately needs. Here are Ursaring's stats in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

  • Total: 500
  • HP: 90
  • Attack: 130
  • Defense: 75
  • Special Attack: 75
  • Special Defense: 75
  • Speed: 55

10. Blissey

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Blissey has always been a fun Pokémon to use, and this is true in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. With an absolutely crazy amount of HP and fantastic Special Defense, it is a great Special Wall. Blissey works best in a support role, so don't expect it to KO too many Pokémon. It is better suited to heal your Pokémon or provide buffs to increase their power and survivability. Here are Blissey's stats in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

  • Total: 540
  • HP: 255
  • Attack: 10
  • Defense: 10
  • Special Attack: 75
  • Special Defense: 135
  • Speed: 55

We recommend choosing which Normal-type Pokémon you used based on your Pokémon and trying to avoid having multiple of the same types. Or, you can opt to use only Normal Pokémon and play through the game as a Normal-type specialist. Regardless of which you prefer, the Normal Pokémon above are all great choices.
