How to Summon All Bosses in Terraria

Some of the bosses in Terraria are high on the list of the most difficult bosses in gaming! Here is how to summon them!

Terraria developer Re-Logic has been providing new and improved updates to this fantastic crafting game for years. They have never charged extra for DLC and instead provide the free updates as additional inspiration for new players to play or old players to explore new worlds. Seeing a new boss is a common situation in these updates, making us just want to challenge ourselves more!

How to Summon All Bosses in Terraria

All the bosses in Terraria require specific prerequisites to be met if you wish to encounter them. Some of them require specific items, while others require your character has their stats reach a certain level. Below, we've provided a quick rundown of what you need to summon these bosses for a fight.

Pre-Hardmode Bosses

These bosses do not require you to defeat the Wall of Flesh prior to summoning them.

  • King Slime
    • Use a Slime Crown (Crafting Item)
      • 20 Gold
      • 1 x Platinum Crown OR 1 x Gold Crown
      • Demon Altar OR Crimson Altar
    • Kill 150 slimes during a Slime Rain
    • Rare event to randomly appear in the outer thirds of the map by itself
  • Eye of Cthulhu:
    • 33 percent chance to spawn at night when the player has
      • At least 200 HP
      • Three or more NPCs living in houses
      • Over 10 defense
    • Use a Suspicious Looking Eye (Crafting Item)
      • 6 x Lens
      • Demon Altar OR Crimson Altar
  • Eater of Worlds:
    • Every third Shadow Orb that is broken (happens indefinitely)
    • Use a Worm Food (Crafting Item)
      • 30 x Vile Powder
      • 15 x Rotten Chunk
      • Demon Altar OR Crimson Altar
  • Brain of Cthulhu:
    • Every third Crimson Heart that is broken (happens indefinitely)
    • Use a Bloody Spine (Crafting Item)
      • 30 x Vicious Powder
      • 15 x Vertebra
      • Demon Altar OR Crimson Altar
  • Queen Bee:
    • Destroy her larva in the walls of Bee Hives
    • Abeemination (Crafting Item)
      • 5 x Honey Block
      • 1 x Stinger
      • 5 x Hive
      • 1 x Bottled Honey
  • Skeletron:
    • Speak to the Old Man NPC at the entrance of the Dungeon and activate his curse at night
  • Wall of Flesh:
    • Throw a Guide Voodoo Doll (Dropped Item - Voodoo Demon) into a pool of lava while the Guide NPC is alive

Hardmode Bosses

After defeating the Wall of Flesh, the game provides the option to enter Hardmode, which unlocks several more bosses of significantly greater difficulty.

  • Queen Slime
    • Use a Gelatin Crystal (Found Item - Underground Hallow)
  • The Twins
    • Use a Mechanical Eye (Crafted Item) at night
      • 3 x Lens
      • 5 x Iron Bar OR 5 x Lead Bar
      • 6 x Soul of Light
      • Mythril Anvil OR Orichalcum Anvil
  • The Destroyer
    • Use a Mechanical Worm (Crated Item) at night
      • 6 x Rotten Chunk OR 6 x Vertebra
      • 5 x Iron Bar OR 5 x Lead Bar
      • 6 x Soul of Night
      • Mythril Anvil OR Orichalcum Anvil
  • Skeletron Prime
    • Use a Mechanical Skull (Crated Item) at night
      • 30 x Bone
      • 5 x Iron Bar OR 5 x Lead Bar
      • 3 x Soul of Night
      • 3 x Soul of Light
      • Mythril Anvil OR Orichalcum Anvil
  • Plantera
    • Defeat all three mechanical bosses and destroy a Plantera's Bulb (Found in Jungle Biome)
  • Golem:
    • Consume a Lihzahrd Power Cell (Dropped/Crafted Item) at the Lihzahrd Altar (Jungle Temple)
  • Empress of Light:
    • Kill Plantera to make Prismatic Lacewings (Hardmode Entity - Surface Hallow) spawn, then kill a Prismatic Lacewing
  • Duke Fishron:
    • Use a Truffle Worm (Hardmode Entity - Glowing Mushroom) as bait while fishing in the Ocean.
  • Lunatic Cultist:
    • Kill the Golem to make Cultists (Entity - Dungeon Entrance) spawn, then kill the four Cultists
  • Moon Lord:
    • Defeat all four Celestial Pillars during Lunar Events
    • Use a Celestial Sigil (Crafted Item)

Event Bosses

Even bosses are considered mini-bosses and only happen during world events, which are sometimes seasonal.

  • Dark Mage
    • Appears during the final wave of the Old One's Army Tier 1 event initiated with an Eternia Crystal (Purchased Item - Tavernkeep)
  • Ogre
    • Appears during the final wave of the Old One's Army Tier 2 event initiated with an Eternia Crystal (Purchased Item - Tavernkeep)
  • Betsy
    • Appears during the final wave of the Old One's Army Tier 3 event initiated with an Eternia Crystal (Purchased Item - Tavernkeep)
  • Flying Dutchman
    • Spawns after 65 percent of a Pirate Invasion event initiated with a Pirate Map (Dropped Item - Any enemy close to an Ocean during Hardmode)
  • Mourning Wood
    • Spawns during the Pumpkin Moon event initiated with a Pumpkin Moon Medallion (Crafted Item)
      • 30 x Pumpkin
      • 5 x Ectoplasm
      • 10 x Hallowed Bar
      • Mythril Anvil OR Orichalcum Anvil
  • Pumpking
    • Spawns after Mourning Wood during the Pumpkin Moon event initiated with a Pumpkin Moon Medallion (Crafted Item)

  • Everscream
    • Spawns during the Frost Moon event initiated with a Naughty Present (Crafted Item)

    • Spawns during the Frost Moon event initiated with a Naughty Present (Crafted Item)
