Warhammer 40k Darktide Wounds System, Explained

What are wounds?

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is infamous for how confusing some features or stats can be when players first find or read them. Luckily, it's not confusing to understand what Wounds are or how the Wounds System works in Warhammer 40k Darktide.

What are Wounds in Warhammer 40k Darktide?

If you are wondering what Wounds are or how the Wound system works in Warhammer 40k Darktide, it's simple. In short, Wounds represent how many health bars you have. Wounds were imported from the Tabletop version of Warhammer 40k, where units have Wounds instead of Health. Wounds also work the same way as they represent your health bars in the lower left corner of your screen.

As you complete missions, you will also notice that certain buffs will increase the number of Wounds you have or certain things will take them away. Curios and certain buffs can often grant bonuses that increase the Wounds players have, while corruption or picking up a grimoire will take away a few of your Wounds. Along with removing your health bars or wounds, corruption and grimoires will leave purple bars that prevent you from healing your character fully. These purple bars, besides representing corruption, will replace some of your wounds whenever you go down or pick up a grimoire.

How to heal wounds and remove corruption in Warhammer 40k Darktide

If you want to remove any corruption and heal your Wounds, then you must find and use a med station. Outside of a med station in Darktide, there are no other ways to remove corruption and heal your Wounds. However, a med station will not heal corruption if you pick up a Grimoire. Picking Grimoires will add permanent corruption that doesn't disappear until you fail or complete a mission.
