How to use the Dual Shell Hop-Up in Apex Legends

Cut down reload times drastically.

Since the beginning, Hop-Ups have been an integral part of Apex Legends. Each Hop-Up is generally compatible with two weapons, and gives them a special buff. Over the course of the game, some Hop-Ups have been added, removed, changed, or even built into the weapon they were formerly compatible with. For Season 11, no Hop-Up was removed from the loot pool, but there was one added in. The Hop-Up introduced in Season 11 is the Dual Shell.

The Dual Shell is an Epic rarity Hop-Up compatible with the Mastiff Shotgun and the 30-30 Repeater. Similar to the Boosted Loader Hop-Up, this Hop-Up doesn’t affect fire in anyway, and instead improves how its given weapons reload. The Mastiff and 30-30 are the only weapons in Apex Legends that reload one bullet at a time, rather than all at once. The Dual Shell Hop-Up allows players to reload two bullets at a time instead.

Two may not seem like a lot, but mathematically, this Hop-Up cuts the reload time for these weapons in half. This makes it easier to get back into the action if you run out of bullets in your round. Also, if you only have time to reload partially, you’ll get more ammo in that timeframe.

Specifically for the 30-30, the Dual Shell buff stacks wonderfully with the Sniper Stock reload time buff that is already higher for the 30-30 specifically than it is for other weapons. This means that if you have a Level 3 Sniper Stock and a Dual Shell, the 30-30 will reload fully at an incredibly high speed.
