All Resources in Forspoken and how to get them

Finding it difficult to find a resource in Forspoken? Use our guide to give you a helping hand!

There are plenty of resources and materials to find in the land of Athia in Forspoken. These range from plants and flowers to strange ore called Breakstones. Regardless of what they are, all are needed in crafting additional capacity or upgrading Frey's gear—Hooded Cloak and Necklace. Here's a guide on how to get all resources in Forspoken.

Forspoken – All Resources Guide

Most of the resources in Forspoken can be found when exploring the world. Everything not dropped by an enemy can spawn in any location, but in our experience, it has a higher chance of appearing in certain places. Some resources seem only to be found within chests, but later in Forspoken, we found these items in pouches. There is no guarantee about what you find in a chest or pouch. It could be any resource apart from Firewood.

The best way to find resources when exploring is by using Cuff's scan ability; even though it has a limited range, with magic parkour, you move so fast it doesn't make a difference. We advise turning on Automatic Item Gathering in the Accessibility Settings under World Settings. Turning this on means you don't have to press/click anything to loot it, but you do have to make contact with it, and it doesn't hinder your momentum at all.

Everything can be found within treasure chests, so for many different materials, loot all the purple dots on the map and complete every map marker to get chests. The same goes for pouches, anything can be in a pouch, and there is no telling what, but more so in the later area in the game.

Later in Forspoken, when more magic skill trees become available, you can get new spells that allow you to craft lesser materials into higher materials, but this is limited to Breakstone's.

Lastly, we are unsure whether resources respawn or not or if things are randomly generated. Using map images may help you briefly, but in the long run, they won't help you at all if you have already collected them in passing.

Head to the area, complete map markers, and kill enemies. Just explore. You'll find a plethora of resources you need in no time.

All Consumables in Forspoken

Consumables in Forspoken are items you can use for currency or based on mechanics in the game. These may also have limited amounts available.

How to get Poppets in Forspoken

To get Poppets in Forspoken, you must partake in Detours with the cats of Cipal. These involve you following the cat for a small about of time, and they will lead you to a Poppet. The tiny figurines are a type of currency you can exchange for skills and gear at the Bookstore in Cipal. More Detours will come available as you progress through the story, so make sure you pop back to Cipal often to get them all.

How to get Old Coins in Forspoken

To get Old Coins in Forspoken, you must explore the world of Athia and open treasure chests. Occasionally, you can find Old Coins in pouches on the map and Locked Labyrinths. Yet the best way to find them is by opening all the treasure chests you come across. Old Coins like Poppets are a type of currency that can be used to exchange for goods—perks, gear—at a store in Cipal.

But I advise you not to spend any here and instead save them. When you reach the third segment of the map, Visoria, you can find a Curiosity Shop off the beaten path. In this Curiosity Shop, you can buy an array of quality-of-life items that will help you on your journey. These are very expensive but are vastly worth it.

Use the map below to find the Curiosity Shop for yourself.

Curiosity shop items

  • Gravity Lantern: Buy with 16 Old Coins, allowing players to collect mana over a wider area.
  • Comfy Pillow: Buy with 16 Old Coins, gives players temporary effects when they sleep in a refuge or camp.
  • Crafting Pot: Buy with 24 coins, allowing players to convert natural resources into other forms when crafting.
  • Compass: Purchase with 48 coins. The compass unlocks the Forage options, allowing players to gather items while camping.
  • Sewing Kit: Buy with 64 coins, allows players to craft new cloaks and necklaces.

How to get Firewood in Forspoken

To get Firewood in Forspoken, you need to look around houses and wagons in Athia. You can only hold three at a time, and unless you camp a lot, it's very doubtful you'll ever need to find Firewood. But I found the best place to get guaranteed Firewood is by entering a Locked Labyrinth.

All Resouces found in chests in Forspoken

Though all resources in Forspoken can be found in treasure chests. There are three items that are mostly only found in treasure chests. Albeit they can also be given as Detour rewards and in pouches, but rarely. In my experience, you'll never see these lying about like other materials.

Use this guide, how to increase gear stats permanently in Forspoken, to know the exact number of resources needed to improve the stats on your gear.

How to get Feathers in Forspoken

To get Feathers in Forspoken, in my experience, are 97% of the time only found in treasure chests. The remaining 3% are found in pouches but in end-game areas, places at the edge of the world. Though for a guaranteed Feather/Nugget drop, throughout my entire time playing Forspoken, I always earned a Feather or a Nugget after battling a Mutant, which is marked on the map with an upside-down triangle.

Feathers are used for increases the Material Pouch Capacity, thusly allowing you to hold more materials. The number of Feathers needed increases after each upgrade. I can hold 180 of all resources, but I need five Feathers to increase that to 190. To get to 200, I'll no doubt need six Feathers.

How to get Nuggets in Forspoken

To get Nuggets in Forspoken is the same as Feathers. These will only be found in treasure chests, mostly behind Mutants, but with a chance to appear in pouches in late-game areas. Occasionally, with both Nuggets and Feathers, you'll get it as a reward for a Detour, but this is rare.

Nuggets are used for increasing the Medicine Pouch Capacity, and the amount needed increases after each upgrade. For example, I have a carrying capacity of 15 Healing Draughts, but to be able to hold 16, I need nine Nuggets.

How to get Wild Musk in Forspoken

Like Feathers and Nuggets in Forspoken, Wild Musk is a rare item found in treasure chests. If you get Wild Musk or any of the two items above, be happy, especially if you get Wild Musk. You can get these in pouches toward the end of the game.

Wild Musk is extremely important, as it is used in 98% of the upgrades needed for your gear. Apart from Stat Improvement, Wild Musk is necessary for the rest. So opening every treasure chest you come across is essential to stay on top of the need for this resource. Especially if you like upgrading every new piece of gear you get.

All Resources found on the map in Forspoken

These resources in Forspoken are all materials you can find while exploring the map. Most materials have a preferred spawn area but can be found in other regions of Athia.

How to get Balm Flax in Forspoken

Balm Flax in Forspoken is one of the most accessible resources to find. The plant can be found all over Athia. Eight times out of ten, using Cuff's Scan ability, you'll find some Balm Flax close to you. Though this isn't rare, it's an essential resource to always have on you, as it's the only material needed to craft Healing Draughts.

How to get Crag Grass in Forspoken

Crag Grass is another valuable resource in Forspoken, as it is heavily used in upgrading your Hooded Cloak. To get Crag Grass in quantity, you must enter the Praenost region, where Tanta Sila resides. Use Cuff's Scan ability far away from water, as this is where Crag Grass is mainly found—which shouldn't be much trouble since the entire area is a desert wasteland.

Crag Grass is the first material needed to upgrade your different types of magic for the Hooded Cloak. 25 Crag Grass is required to upgrade any type of magic until the next resource, Shore Violet, is needed. The exact amount of Crag Grass is necessary for the Necklace. You can also use Crag Grass for a few equipment effects for your Cloak or Necklace.

How to get Shore Violet in Forspoken

Shore Violet in Forspoken is very much like Crag Grass and is an essential resource for your upgrading needs. You can get Shore Violets in the region of Avoalet, the region you head to after Praenost. Use Cuff's Scan ability close to bodies of water—rivers, lakes, etc., and you'll find an abundance of Shore Violet.

After Crag Grass, 15 Shore Violet is the resource needed to upgrade your magic beyond 25. The same amount of Shore Violet is needed for the Necklace. It is also used in a few equipment effects.

How to get Tall Aster in Forspoken

To get Tall Aster in Forspoken, you need to head to Visoria, the third region in the story. Tall Aster can be located where areas are thick with grass and flowers. So find a lush field filled with beauty, Tall Aster will be nearby.

If you want to upgrade your magic after Short Violet, then Tall Aster is the next material you need. Once you hit 40 magic, you need 15 Tall Aster to reach 55.

How to get Junoon's Mantle in Forspoken

To get Junoon's Mantle in Forspoken, you need to venture to the last region of the game, Junoon, and like Tall Asters, bloom in areas thick with grass and flowers. Oddly enough, as you arrive in Athia in Junoon, you may pick up a few of these on your journey.

After Shore Violets, to increase your magic past 55, you need 15 Junoon's Mantle and Welkin Cluster to reach the max of 65 for Hooded Cloaks. This is where the resources needed for gear change, as you need the same amount of Junoon's Mantle (15,) but you need 15 Fervid Cluster.

How to get Fluteblossom in Forspoken

To get Fluteblossoms in Forspoken, you need a lot of luck, as these grow all over Athia but are pretty rare. I found many of my Fluteblossoms inside treasure chests while hunting for Nuggets, Feathers, and Wild Musk.

How to get Bumbershoot in Forspoken

There are only a few ways to get Bumbershoot in Forspoken. The first is by trading a certain amount of Poppets to the trader in Cipal; however, you can only purchase one with Old Coins. The second is finding them inside chests, and the third is finding them rarely inside pouches scattered throughout Athia. From my experience, the farther I went off the beaten path to areas at the edge of Athia, the rarer resources I would find in pouches.

How to get Grainstone in Forspoken

Grainstone is the first type of stone/ore found in Forspoken. To get Grainstone, keep a close eye out on the areas of Cipal. It shouldn't take too long to find some using the speed of magic parkour.

How to get Spinestone in Forspoken

Next on the list of Spinestone. This can be located in Praenost in Forspoken. Especially next to cliffs. So when exploring to find this resource, keep a close eye on the top and base of cliffs in the area. There's a lot of them!

How to get Anglestone in Forspoken

To find Anglestone in Forspoken, you need to head to Avoalet, the home of Tanta Prav. While here, magic parkour around bodies of water, and you'll find plenty of Anglestone.

How to get Ringstone in Forspoken

Ringstone in Forspoken is found in the third region of the game Visoria. Look for large stones jutting out of the ground, and you should see some Ringstone nearby.

How to get Beamstone in Forspoken

To get Beamstone in Forspoken, you have to wait until near the end of the game or post-game, as this resource is found in Junoon. Look out for areas lush with vegetation; there'll be some Beamstone nearby.

How to get Duirnite in Forspoken

Duirnite in Forspoken is one of the most challenging resources to come across, as it can be found all over Athia but in high places. Visoria is a great place to find this due to its rocky landscape.

How to get Noctite in Forspoken

To get Noctite in Forspoken, in my experience, is very difficult. To find Noctite, you need to head to areas where the break is heavily concentrated. As a player is hard to tell where these locales are, however, if you pay attention to what Frey says, she'll mention that the break is heavy here, and these are the areas where Noctite can be found. For example, northwest of Junoon Castle is an area called Crosstide Coast. I managed to find Noctite here, along with many other rare resources in pouches.

All Resources dropped by enemies in Forspoken

Many of the resources needed in Forspoken need to be acquired from defeating the many enemies that roam Athia. The material you get from defeating foes is random, but they are plenty of foes to find and kill. Speed and destruction are your best friend.

There are five types of Breakstones:

You can get a few spells from Frey's magic skill tree that can help you get more of these items if you have an abundance of one.

  • Rarify
    • This allows you, when crafting, to turn Breakshards into other types of Breakshards.
  • Rarify
    • This spell allows, when crafting, to combine Breakshards of the same type to improve the level of the Breakshard.
      • For example, two Welkin Clusters can be used to make one Welkin Bloom.

This is a work in a progress, we'll be updating this as we manage to get to all areas of the game. The links will take you to images of the enemy so you know exactly what you are looking for.

How to get Fervid Cluster in Forspoken

Fervid Cluster is another resource in Forspoken that can be found by defeating certain enemies. In my time throughout the game, the easiest way to this material is in Praenost battling Errant Soldier.

How to get Lucid Clusters in Forspoken

To get Lucid Clusters in Forspoken, you must defeat enemies for a chance to get it as loot. However, the interesting thing about Lucid Clusters is that in my experience are not used for anything. But they are important as Lucid Bloom is an extremely essential resource in the game, and you can convert four Lucid Clusters into one Lucid Bloom using if you have the Rarify spell.

You can get Lucid Bloom in Forspoken from quite a number of enemies that you have to defeat. However, this is a scarce resource, so the drop rate is meager. What are Garlands in Forspoken?

Garlands are the most critical resources in Forspoken if you want to max out your gear. They are the last resource needed to get that 100 stat. From 91 to 100, you need nine Garlands, which is quite a lot.

How to get Garlands in Forspoken

Mutants

Garlands are quite easy to come by in Forspoken if you don't mind a challenge. From my playthrough of Forspoken, I got a guaranteed Garland drop after every mutant I defeated. These mutants are shown as a map marker shown as an upside-down triangle. These are challenging enemies, and starting on your journey, you will not have their weaknesses, but if you can kill them, a Garland awaits.

Breakstorms

There is an easier way as well, but I didn't encounter these Nightmares until post-game in Breakstorms. These enemies are yellow instead of the normal blue and die instantly but will always drop a Garland. These are called Arcane enemies.
