Best Lyney build in Genshin Impact – Weapons, Artifacts, & more!

He's got a few tricks up his sleeve.

Lyney is a five-star Pyro bow user who specializes in dealing damage by triggering Reactions. He has an HP-dependent kit that's common among Fontaine characters but makes up for his HP-eating skills with self-healing abilities. Here's everything you need to know on how to build him.

Best weapons for Lyney in Genshin Impact

Lyney plays the role of a main DPS, so he's best paired with weapons that can boost his overall damage output. I recommend choosing a weapon before rolling for Artifact stats, so you know whether to roll for more Crit Rate or Damage.

Five-star options

Four-star options

  • Scion of the Blazing Sun (best four-star option)
  • Song of Stillness
  • Prototype Crescent

Best Artifacts for Lyney in Genshin Impact

Even though Lyney's skills consume HP, I recommend opting for a traditional DPS build as his skills scale off Attack. Opt for the following main stats:

  • Sands: EM or Attack percent (opt for EM if his Reactions need a boost)
  • Goblet: Pyro Damage
  • Circlet: Crit Rate or Crit Damage (depending on what you're lacking)

Meanwhile, you can give Lyney any of the following Artifact sets:

  • Four-piece Marechaussee Hunter (best-in-slot)
    • This Artifact set is the best option for Lyney as it boosts his Normal and Charged Attack Damage and further increases his Crit Rate whenever there are changes to his HP. Since his skills will constantly consume HP and self-heal, he can take full advantage of this amazing passive.
  • Four-piece Lavawalker (for mono Pyro)
    • If you're still farming for Marechaussee Hunter, you can opt to give Lyney some old Lavawalker set pieces. The four-piece passive offers a 35% damage boost against enemies inflicted with Pyro, which is extremely helpful when running a mono Pyro team. But when running a regular team, stay away from this set as it won't benefit Lyney at all.
  • Wanderer's Troupe
    • If you're primarily using Lyney to trigger Elemental Reactions, a full set of Wanderer's Troupe is a great option as it increases his EM and Charged Attack Damage.

Best team for Lyney in Genshin Impact

Here are a few recommendations on how to use Lyney. Keep in mind that his usage is not limited to these—there are endless combinations where Lyney is viable.

  • Mono Pyro - an option that usually involves two Pyro characters (such as Bennett and Xiangling) plus your character of choice in the last slot. It's usually occupied by an Anemo character to trigger Swirl (Venti, Kazuha) or a shielder or healer for survivability (Zhongli, Baizhu).
  • Burning Team - Lyney has potential in teams that rely on triggering the Burning Reaction, which requires a consistent Dendro applicator of your choice (Nahida, Yaoyao), plus a multi-purpose support (Bennett, Kirara, Zhongli, Baizhu) and a sub-DPS (Dehya, Xiangling).
  • Reverse Melt Team - Lyney can also be used in Reverse Melt teams, usually consisting of Bennett, Kazuha, and Ganyu.
