Hundreds of Barbara cosplayers in swimsuits appear in Genshin Impact water park event

It's a great day for ordinary water park goers.

What better way to summon thousands of cosplayers in swimsuits than to hold a cosplay event in a water park? The idea became a reality in Chimelong Water Park, located in Guangzhou, China, where thousands of cosplayers flocked to the venue donning swimwear thematically aligned with the characters they were representing. Naturally, a good chunk of attendees came in Genshin Impact cosplays—including hundreds of Barbaras wearing her iconic Summertime Sparkle Outfit.

The Summertime Sparkle skin was released during the first rendition of the Golden Apple Archipelago event two years ago, exclusively for four-star Hydro catalyst user, Barbara. While her older sister, Jean, also received a summer outfit, most attendees decided to attend the water park event dressed as Barbara instead.

The ordeal resulted in the hilarious visuals of identical-looking Barbaras posing for pictures and enjoying the event, which can be viewed through the video-sharing platform, Bilibili. The event was held across a few days, but many fans stated that they were unaware of it happening, which also resulted in regular water park guests getting more than what they paid for.

Apart from Barbara, cosplayers also came in other popular female characters, including Yae Miko, Ningguang, Xiangling, and Kamisato Ayaka. The participants were notably female—not a single male cosplay could be seen in the videos posted on Bilibili.

This event wasn't a direct collaboration with Genshin Impact, but the game has recently increased its partnership efforts across brands in China, Japan, and South Korea. They recently partnered up with Kiehl's to release Amurta-themed merchandise, while upcoming collaborations with arcade company GiGO stationery company M&G, fitness app keep, and mobile company Samsung, are in the works.
